What to do with Alou?

|

Alou DiarraVery little has been said about Alou Diarra since he left for Rennes on loan last January. He has returned to pre-season with the West Ham boys and seems to be fully involved with the rest of the squad.

After supposedly criticising Big Sam for his team selection along with two further digs at the club, it’s more than a little surprising that he has joined up with the squad. This begs the question whether he has a future at the club?

Diarra is approaching half a ton of caps for his country (France) and has also previously captained his nation; he also has a huge wealth of experience, mainly in French league football. There is no doubting his quality at least previously in his career, but he couldn’t make starting selection ahead of Mark Noble and Mohamed Diame.

I wonder whether he has rejoined with a fresh mind to make the cut in the English Premier League or whether he has been forced to attend whilst he is still under contract. I can’t imagine if he did make those previous digs at the manager and the club, that the management staff and Chairmen would be welcoming him back with open arms.

Is he on his way soon or has he been given the chance during pre-season to prove himself?

I would welcome him back if he could prove that he wanted to be part of a team and still had his quality to push for a starting spot. I would hope that he was misconstrued in the media on his comments about the club as if that was how he truly felt, i can’t see him wanting to stay or being welcomed backed by the majority of fans.

One should never believe rubbish attributed to unhappy or otherwise players! I like most others don’t know what went on leading up to Diarra going out on loan to Rennes All we know is that he is a quality experienced international who has captained his country! Oh and when he finally played for West Ham he looked different class! The other thing we know Is that he is back at the club and playing a full part in pre season! So, i think it would be safe to say that one of two things will happen, firstly he will continue at the club and prove to be an asset to the club! Or he will be treading water untill it is mutually advantageous for a parting of the ways! Only time will tell! Personally I would love for it to all work out as I have already stated I think he is a class player!

spot on. wether or not he threw his toys out the pram, he’s still world class and almost any other club in the country would sign him up in a flash

Its looking likely that diame is on his way to the toffees 🙁 perhaps diarra is back just in case big sam cant get his targets!

Keep Diame and Alou ….. both class players … get rid of Noble …. no class at all …

    • Ray_The_Hammer says:

Noble oozes class and bleeds claret ‘n blue! Are you related to the Bubbles character on little Britain?

Well done bubbles. Slag of our most loyal player. I do not know how you sleep at night!

Defantly keep diame and diara they are class keep nolan collinson noble and morrison DONT GET PARKER BACK alou and him are worlds apart

    • Ray_The_Hammer says:

I agree, Parker & Diarra are worlds apart. Parker is a level headed, decent bloke that gives his all for whatever team he plays for. Diarra is a total nutter that threw his toys out of the pram and buggered off to France because he wasn’t put straight in the first team after 3 months out with injury then slagged off the club & the manager. Class my arse!

Diarra is an experienced cultured holding midfield player who played every game for France during WC2010 yet we treated him like some novice when he joined us. Gary O’Neil was treated better than him. Yet we wondered why he got the hump. He is NOT the same type of player as Mo Diame. Diame is a driving, forward-thinking player along the lines of Yaya Toure; Diarra is a holding midfield player who can also play centre half. It is Noble’s place that Diarra is competing for in my opinion. Whoever deserves their place out of those two – irrespective of whether they are “West Ham born and bred” should be in the team

Further to my last post I suspect that if Sam decides to retain Orlando Engelaar the Diarra will be on his way

  • Steve says:

How can any west ham surporters slag off noble, the lad gives 100% every time he steps on the pitch, in my opinion he’s a class act with claret and blue blood running through his veins,

Although diarra has nearly 50 caps for France, that should not guarantee him a place in the team, heskey has got also the same amount for England.. He needs to earn that like everyone else has had to. Also it has been a pretty poor French team for the last 4-6 years so its not like he’s competing with the likes of Viera, zidane, deschamps etc. let him earn his place, or go else where.

He slagged the club off?! Chuck him out! He’s not half the player Diame is and he threw his toys out the pram when he didn’t play well enough. As for being an influential player for France in 2010, well, what a World Cup they had…

Firstly, it will be worth keeping Diarra at least until January to prove his worth & commitment to the club. His record of previous clubs speaks for itself & you have to ask yourself why he’s moved around so much. There’s no question, he’s a really good player. But he’s not getting into the team for a reason; reason being Noble & Diame are obviously better & seasoned veterans in the PL.

    Secondly, Diame…
If I’m totally honest I couldn’t care less if he went or not now. Ever since he’s joined, his agent has stirred with the media fishing for a bigger move, & the player doesn’t seem very committed either. On his day he’s strides above the rest of the team. Yet he only turns up against the top 6 clubs. Not consistent enough & was missing for most of the second half of last season. A £3.5m buy out clause is a fair price for a player we got for free in my opinion. We make him out to be far better than what he actually is.

Thirdly, anyone that slags off Noble clearly doesn’t go very often to games & deserves to be stoned to death! He’s come on leaps & bounds since Parker left. He’s really shining for us now & he deserves it. Noble changed a lot of games for us last season & he always delivers when called upon. Noble for captain after Nolan!

If Diame is off to toffee-land we may need him

  • HarlowHammer says:

Completely unrelated but I’m going to Colchester on Tuesday and I can’t find how often the busses run? Does anyone have any idea please.

  • mt says:

Noble has leaped and bounded crablike I’m afraid, how is a player with zero england caps better than a player with 40 plus french caps(honestly Diarra must be worth a go)?

  • Ray_The_Hammer says:

Emile Heskey has 62 caps for England, El Hadj Diouf’ has 69 for Senegal, I could go on & on its not just about international appearances. How many caps did Billy Bonds get? Julian Dicks? Paolo Di Canio?

  • mt says:

    Noble bracketed with Bonds. Really?
We know he is a tryer but honestly how effective is he. Yes he is loyal, eats pie and mash etc,but we could do better
