The most exciting West Ham youngster ever?

Soccer - npower Football League Championship - Birmingham City v Hull City - St AndrewsRavel Morrison returned from his loan to Birmingham City to rejoin with West Ham. Many were unsure whether he was ever going to be in Big Sam’s plans or if he was going to hang around to find out. Having gone through two pre-season games to date, versus Cork and Boreham Wood, Morrison has played in both and netted in both games. Although these games are barely meant to be a true test of the players, Big Sam couldn’t possibly ignore the fact that he has shown some desire to make it at West Ham.

I am personally really excited about the prospect Ravel holds. He is a huge risk having pushed Fergie to the end of his tether but he is still so talented and possesses a certain British flair which is really exciting. His bad boy demeanour can sometimes work in the favour of the team of which the “bad boy” plays for. He could certainly rattle opponents but I would hope that he would rather let his feet do the talking.

His flair and finishing from a player in the CAM role, which at West Ham is pretty much a “free-roam” role, is what suggests him as the most exciting youngster on our books, as he has come at the perfect time to fit the style of play, but to add a refreshing spin.

I’m not sure if i can pinpoint exactly what makes him such an exciting prospect but I can’t wait to see him get his groove on in the Premier League in the coming season, and I hope he does get the chance.

Can’t wait to see ravi in a west ham shirt playing premier league football. The problem is big sam is renouned for not giving young players a chance. I would rather see him have another six months at birmingham than get frustrated in the reserve team. Going on loan last season has obviously brought him on a bundle. Come on sam give the boy a chance !!

Talent aside, something doesn’t quite sit right with me. Cheering on someone who from account is a bit of a scum bag. Football has desended a long way from the gentlemen of Brooking and co. But in the heat of the game we will cheer and sing his name, but I do think it will leave me with that same taste in my mouth like the one the morning after you’ve eaten a 2am doner kebab. There’s only one Ravel Morrison…

    • bob says:

Who are you to call him a scum bag ?

      • JC says:

To be honest he’s no better than Joey Barton with his twitter outbursts. He has seemed to calm down a bit since hes been at West Ham.

        • The Cat says:

How the hell can he be compared to Barton???

Ravel has been around for a couple of minutes, he’s a YOUNG man and should be JUDGED on what he does/done at West Ham…………NOT here say!!!

People are quick out the traps to judge, without having all the facts at their disposal.

Jason perhaps that what your mouth always tastes like!!!!!!

One from each decade that graduated from the Academy of Football and went on to play for the club
    1960’s Bobby Moore
    1970’s Trevor Brooking
    1980’s Paul Ince
    1990’s Joe Cole
    2000’s Mark Noble
There are soooo many others. Exciting maybe, the most exciting ever, geat real!

    • Toby Fry says:

I don’t know if you misconstrued me a little. I didn’t mean best ever but most exciting, maybe because he’s unknown and skillful. I never even concluded that he was the most exciting ever.

Whoa! Hold your horses boys! I think we are getting a bit carried away here! These things we know, is he highly talented? undoubtedly! has he been anidiot in The past? Also Undoubtably! Especially if Fergie washed his hands of him! But lee Clark must have seen something in him and the penny is looking more like it might have dropped at Brum as he has come back and started pre season a different player! But it is only pre season and we should not rush to conclusions. There is still a long way to go and he is still a young lad. The test will come when he is told that he is not ready for the first team yet and needs another season to learn his trade. Then we will see if he has matured! I believe he will benefit from either another loan period or being under Big Sams wing for the upcoming season so he can be slowly nurtured into the first team. As after all he has plenty of talent and time on his side and with the right guidance he could be a real class player! COYI!

    • Toby Fry says:

Are you excited of what might become of Ravel? As for taking the bad boy off United’s books, risks have to be taken, and Fergie isn’t the best at sorting players out, he kicked Beckham out and he wasn’t a bad player. You crossed Fergie and you were out. Big Sam will give his best to get the best from Ravel.

  • steve says:

Ravel Morrison isn’t a ‘slowly slowly’ gradually bring to the boil type. He needs to be out there with the best. Cometh the hour cometh the man! Give him his opportunity. If he’s got ‘it’ he’ll grab it with both hands. And feet. I’m not saying start him every game. That’d be too much. But if Sam puts faith in him I expect he’ll come good. Morrison knows the alternative!

  • Arteee says:

You used ‘undoubtedly’ and ‘undoubtably’ moments apart. Bizarre..!!

Yeah he’s class and if Nolan hasn’t worked on his stamina and passing I’d replace him.

  • Chelmo Hammer says:

To even class Morrison in the same bracket as the likes of Moore, Brooking, Ferdinand, J.Cole or Noble is very unrealistic. We knew it was a matter or time before they made an impact on the first time. With Morrison, we’re not even sure if he will be here.

I hope Morrison gets a chance, but to say he is our most exciting prospect ever – well, its simply ludicrous!

  • Deano says:

The boy has loads to prove, I fir one hasn’t seen talent like his at the Boleyn fir years… The rav is gonna be huge for us no doubt COYI

  • FarehamHammer says:

The big problem with Ravel is his attitude.Sam ,will be watching his every move on and off the pitch pre -season.But he has the potrntial to be hugely important to ud.Players of Ravel ability are few and far between. He is on par skillwise and technical ability,as Jack Wilshire. He glides across the pitch, superb vision and touch.Football intelligence wise, the best since Yossi

  • claret says:

    IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Cat says:

There is no doubting that Ravel is a massive talent, he’s a young lad who we acquired because Man U couldn’t incorporate him due to issues off the field. Their loss is our gain, but he ISN’T a mass murderer and needs to be given a chance.

The difference I believe between Ravel and other talented youngsters, is that he has the ability to step up no matter what level. I just hope he gets his chance this season.

  • lee says:

i agree when i’ve seen ravel play he’s show some really classy moves, no doubt he will be worth a few quid in a few years time, think we should take the risk and sign him up to a four year contract otherwise he’ll be gone on a free transfer next year and someone else could benefit from him, and end up getting poached like all our stars at west ham

  • bubbles says:

Zero flair or ” gliding ” ability in the Hammers midfield at present so got to be worth a try .

  • Robohammer says:

Trouble is he isn’t over 6ft nor called Kevin Nolan even, as an alias, so not much chance of BFS picking him!!

  • steve says:

Ravel won 13 man of the match awards playing for B’ham last season!!! Name another WHam first team player who might have done that if they’d been loaned to Bham?? He’s star quality and deserves his run. And Sam will let him do it. Let’s hope Nolan doesn’t ‘bully’ him out of the action. He’s goibg to be better than Nolan ever was.

  • Ricci says:

As a man utd fan I’m telling you you have a great young player who deserves a chance at west ham! Given a proper run out and I mean proper run out in a decent starting 11 his talent will undoubtedly shine.
