West Ham’s Summer Plans?

Anders LindegaardWest Ham are set to bring in some new faces come summer after manager Sam Allardyce declared he would like to sign around 5 players to add some more strength and much needed depth at the club.

Speculation as of late has been rife in regards to prolific goal-scorer Wilfred Bony who currently plays for Vitesse Arnhem. The Ivorian striker has also been labelled the ‘Next Didier Drogba’. Bony has apparently been in talks with the Hammers over recent weeks but reports suggest that it was nothing more than a publicity stunt from his agent to gather interest from bigger Premier League outfits. Bony could well be a great addition to the West Ham side with his finishing abilities that have been so dearly missed since Dean Ashton’s forced retirement.

Bony isn’t the only striker on West Ham’s radar with on loan Englishman Andy Carroll topping the shortlist. Carroll has bagged 5 goals for the Hammers this season and Sam Allardyce would love to make him a permanent signing as the dominant striker fits perfectly into his plans. Any deal that could potentially take place would be a huge one for West Ham in terms of money as it is touted that they and parent club Liverpool have already agreed a price of £17 million. Carroll would also demand high wages that could well be too much for the East London outfit.

Allardyce has been looking for goalkeepers recently and this could be due to stopper Jussi Jaaskelainen’s age. Jaaskelainen has had a superb season for West Ham, but looks surplus to requirements for next season as the Hammers look for better options.

Goalkeepers on the shortlist consist of Manchester United’s Anders Lindegaard who could well prove a good signing. Lindergaard is second in the pecking order at United behind David De Gea and it would cost no more than £5 million to bring him to Upton Park.

There is no depth in the defence with just three centre backs in James Tomkins, Winston Reid, and James Collins, however we do have Emanuel Pogatetz on loan. We should definitely look to bring in another centre back come summer and it may have to be a cheap option from abroad as English players have rocketing price tags.

The midfield does seem to be pretty much set however there are reports suggesting Mohammed Diame is seeking a move, however he did reject the lure of Champions League football to join us first time round, so what could have changed?

Allardyce is probably set to offload Alou Diarra who has continually spoke out about his time at the Hammers. Furthermore Ricardo Vaz Te and Matty Taylor could face the axe in summer as wingers are also being looked at.

Who would you like to see arrive at Upton Park next season?

Who we sign will depend on how much money there is to be had. Nuff said! The deal to sign Big Sam IS a done deal as is our playing in the prem next year! Again nuff said! The only thing not settled is the tricky matter of how to significantly improve the team without upsetting the clubs far from stable finances! Can’t wait to see how Big Sam manages this delicate balancing act and moves the club on! COYI!

Nice one Dazza P! Remy and Carroll or bony and Carroll now either of these would make the whole world sit up and take notice! I we could stretch to a decent centre half to compliment what we have got that would be great too!lol.

    • Adam Cooper says:

A decent Centre Half??? In Place Of who ? Reid is hammer of the year Collins had been great bar the two errors he has made and when called upon Tomkins had played very very well indeed!! Centre halves are the last of our worries mate, We need goals and a goal keeper first and fore most!!!

Theres some press speculation that Liverpool are in for Diame and may be seeking a swap deal involving AC…….unless its a straight swap i’d tell them to take a hike. i like the idea of keeping AC but not at the expense of losing Mo.

  • Ro says:

Like i’ve said on another thread regarding possible transfer dealings imho if we manage to get the AC deal through for 15mil or so we will probably only have 5-10mil in the transfer kitty left. So i think we will look at free transfers like Figueroa and Simpson for each of the full-back slots and imho they are an improvement over what we have and bring some pace to the side. We will probably look for a right winger from one of the relegated teams or from abroad. My preference is Adam Johnson which should be at a good price if Sunderland relegate… and for the goalkeeper either Robinson for free or the likes of Lindegaard or Pantilimon for around 3mil probably.

Sign Carroll for about. 12 million then if I was sam I would look at Simpson Figueroa frees maybe shay given for a couple of years could be worth a punt also hangelaand is a free also of Wigan go down I like the look of kone

  • trevor t says:

carroll and cesar up front also get rid of diame if he wont to go get about £11 to £ 12 million for him coyi

  • Tony says:

Hangeland just signed a new contract..
i would like a few from this lot, if not all! signed perm for next season lol.
    GK Cesar
    DF Samba, Figueroa, Solly
    MID Mbia, Diakiti
    FWD Remy, Bony, Carroll

    Players who need to go

Jussi, Pogishite, C Cole, Vaz Te, Matt Taylor, Mcartney, O’Neil, Maiga, Paulista, Chamakh.
Mixture of championship at best players, and imo Good players but just not good enough for sams tactics i.e Maiga and Paulista.

Carroll is a must but at a cost somewhat below the 17 million suggested in view of his injury hit season 10 million would be more in line and allow a purchase of another goalgetter. That would still leave more available to hang on top MO or replace him if he goes as well as a keeper Robinson would be cheap and ok or Lindegaard. Elsewhere some more creativity would not go amiss alongside a central defender and full back.

Taylor Diarra Vaz Te Maiga(sadly) Pogatez, should all go

    Jg

Players to sign who would probably be available are Valencia from Man Utd wide on right with Jarvis on left. Andy Carroll from the pool to thrive on this service. Joleon Lescott from City , Figeroa from Wigan at left back and a creative midfielder such as Modric .

In goal Stephen Henderson is well worth a chance and should be given it.

  • jeff says:

KEEP CARROLL, grab Remy and Cesar from QPR, do everything possible to keep mo. Add figaroa and lescot and we have a top six team.
