Will West Ham Offer Sam Allardyce A New Contract?

|

Sam-AllardyceWest Ham currently sit 12th in the Barclays Premier League following a great start to the Hammers campaign but recent performances have seen us slip further down the table.

It was the three points at Stoke City that put our season back on track following back to back defeats and with the season coming to a close in just over two months, speculation is rife with regards to manager Sam Allardyce’s contract.

Big Sam’s contract is set to run out come summer, and chairman David Gold has offered no hints as to whether or not he’ll remain manager come next season.

Sitting 12th in the league has to be a great achievement for any newly promoted side, but some fans still believe that Sam isn’t the man.

We don’t play the most beautiful of football but we do carve out much needed points that have so far kept us clear of the relegation dog fight. Other teams however, play beautiful football and don’t meet their expectations, for example Arsenal; at the end of the day, would you prefer beautiful football and a relegation scrap or our current mixed style that isn’t particularly beautiful, but steers us clear of trouble.

I for one would love to see Allardyce rewarded with a new contract due to the wonders that he has done with a low transfer budget. However many are calling for his head with the name of legend Paolo Di Canio on their wish list.

Paolo recently left Swindon Town and is yet to find a new managerial position, but surely coming to West Ham next season is wrong? With little experience it could be disastrous for both the club and his legendary status. I would love to see Di Canio back at the Boleyn managing us, but for now, he is the wrong option.

The key to success in my opinion is keeping a manager, and although Arsenal conflict this with their trophy drought, it is the way forward for teams. Look at Chelsea, despite their Champions League win; they are a failing in terms of their calibre.

Many of our fellow Hammers are looking beyond what we have, a manager with experience, knowledge and determination.

I feel we should cut Sam some slack, he has performed really well at the club and were doing really well in the league. Furthermore Big Sam’s ‘Hammers’ sign at the Stoke game is another thing to go by! He loves working with West Ham despite hatred of him from a section of fans

Does he deserve a new contract? Yes!
Will he get a new contract? Nobody knows …
