When Will He Get His Time For West Ham?

|

Wellington PaulistaWhen Brazilian Wellington Paulista came to West Ham United from Cruzeiro, I didn’t know a lot about him, the man who is on a six month loan hasn’t featured in the first team yet, with Andy Carroll’s return not helping him, but should he get a chance?

When Paulista came to West Ham, I felt that it would be a good idea to research him; he played for a number of teams in Brazil, scoring quite a few goals for each of them. He played in South America’s equivalent of the Champions League, and on a whole I would say that after looking at his career, to this point he has done fairly well. I then had a look on YouTube to see the goals that he has scored and his general play, and I can see why Sam Allardyce chose to sign him judging from what I saw. He looked as though he has a lot of flair, with some goals showing real class, but he also looks very good with his head, which he uses to score the majority of his goals.

Since his arrival in East London he has not yet played in the first team, but he has played in the development squad and has done well in front of goal, scoring three goals in three games, and with our top scoring strikers having 2 goals each, goals are definitely something that we need, so I think that he definitely needs to be used in some way as a real goal scorer is something that we have been screaming for lately. Another thing that makes him appeal to me is that when the rest of the team went off to Dubai, he decided to stay and work on his fitness with the Development Squad, which shows me that he has dedication to do well and that is something that makes him look even better in my eyes.

I think that he should definitely be used, but I’m not sure if he should start or be used as a substitute. In Allardyce’s 4-2-3-1 formation I think that he would struggle in a starting place, as he may struggle to hold up the ball for other players to come into the game, and I think the flair in which he possesses may be suppressed by being isolated, so if we are to stick with the current formation he should be used as a sub to hit teams, with his pace, flair and heading ability being attributes which could be useful coming off of the bench. However I think that there is a better route that could be taken, I think that a move to the 4-4-2 formation could be just what both Wellington Paulista and West Ham United need to fulfil their full potential, and with Paulista up top with somebody like Andy Carroll or any of our other strikers are partnerships which I think could hurt other teams, so I think that we should change the formation to 4-4-2 in to give Carroll more support and allow Paulista to show his full potential which he has already started to show, as well as helping Paulista, the formation change would potentially help Modibo Maiga to start making an impact at Upton Park.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

I wouldn’t change the formation, and start Paulista for the Tottenham game, as this is too big a game to change the shape and formation in my opinion, and I would use Wellington Paulista as a substitution in the last twenty or thirty minutes. However if he performs relatively well I would give him a chance to start in the Stoke City game along with Andy Carroll changing the formation to 4-4-2.

yes we are way too predictable 451 at home is a very negative way to play especially against lesser teams look what happened at villa last wk if we had gone 442 we probably would have won the game give the boy a run of games starting on the bench next wk

I have watched many WHU games and we have become to predictable. Too often we see CC or AC isolated and it means that other teams can easily put 2 defenders on them, making it even more difficult for the front man. I would give 4-4-2 a chance and see what happens.

Allardyce is too stubborn to admit he’s getting it wrong !!! To play one up front you need someone that can ruin the defence in one quick move and we haven’t got that !! Caroll will be good in a good side but not us !! One up is negative and we will be lucky if we stay up playing this negative system !!! Why do we buy potentially good players and never play them !!!
