An interesting topic was brought to me about Andy Carroll, if I thought he was an expensive mistake and would I want West Ham to sign him permanently. I will talk through and give my opinion on both of these issues.
So do I think Andy Carroll has been an expensive mistake?
Well I do think he has been expensive and we are paying a lot of money for his service but I still don’t think he is a mistake. I think it is a unfair to make a statement such as he was an expensive mistake when he has struggled to have a fully fit run in the team and has picked up injury after injury, so I do think once he is fully fit and settles into a regular run in the team he will be a useful addition to the squad. So he is expensive but NOT a mistake.
Would I want West Ham to sign Andy Carroll on a permanent deal?
Well that would all depend on how much his price tag would be and his wage demands. If Liverpool still wanted £17 million and Andy still wanted his £80,000 a week wages then no chance would I want West Ham to spend that kind of money on him. But, if Liverpool were willing to lower that to the £7-£9 million mark and he was willing to lower his wage demand in return for star status and regular first team football at West Ham, then yes I would be interested. He is a quality player that offers a lot to a team, granted we have not yet seen much of the Andy Carroll we all thought we would be getting with goals, but he is a handful for any defence in this country, and more surprisingly is a grafter on the pitch and works tirelessly for the team. The team and the fans can not ask for anymore than a player that gives 100 per cent. So for the right price I would definitely have Andy Carroll.
My overall view of Andy Carroll is that he has brought more to the team than I expected but he also lacked more in other areas than what I was hoping. He and West Ham really need to find goals and I just don’t think we are going to find them in Andy Carroll but if we can find a player that he can link up with it would be great for the team. He wins every ball in the air so if we had someone running off him to find the net it would be perfect and let’s not forget we haven’t been able to see a Carroll – Ricardo Vaz Te link up yet which could be exciting viewing. I just want Andy to add goals to his game and he would be the complete striker in my opinion.
Many other Hammers may differ from my opinion and I total except that. I just feel although he has lacked a lot of what West Ham fans were expecting, he has also brought a lot more than what I think most West Ham fans thought he would so I just hope we can all get behind him when he gets fit and hope we find the perfect link up for him.
