Carlton’s time to shine

|

If there was ever a time for Carlton Cole to seize his chance of first team action now is the time! With Andy Carroll out for up to 8 weeks and Cole starting the last 2 games it’s now time to prove what he still has to offer, starting with West Brom today.

He started against Chelsea and I have to say I have not seen Cole play that well for a while and he also got on the score sheet which will do wonders for his confidence. Cole also set up West Ham’s second goal with a neat touch and a nice lay off for Mohamed Diame to fire home and all this against his former club.

The Liverpool game was a little tougher for Cole where he started again, chances were few and far between but he did work his socks off and he offers an outlet working the channels, and he is always willing to receive the ball and work hard for the team.

Now to talk about what he has to offer and what I personally feel about him as a player.

I am the first to admit that at times I wonder if Carlton will ever fully produce what he is clearly capable of! He is a centre forward that possesses all the right attributes a forward needs big, strong, powerful, has a good touch, works the channels and has plenty of goals in him. I think the main point is that he is a confidence striker; if he is scoring goals or playing well he is a class act, but if he starts poor or has a bad game that sets him back and he will be poor for a run of games. Big Sam needs to deal with his confidence issues and Carlton needs to start believing he a striker that has it all.

When we signed Carroll I first thought: where does this leave Cole and where does he go from here? Well the answer to my question is he firmly has a place at West Ham and he can run our line and leave Carroll on the bench when he is back fit, why? Cole offers more as a striker in my opinion.

I hope we keep Cole he has firmly became a fan favourite at West Ham and we all has Hammers have a soft spot for him.

Carlton Cole, Cole!  Always believe in your soul, You’ve got the power to go, Your indestructible, Always believe in… Carlton Cole!
