November pain

|

So Saturday came along and after the horror show vs Wigan Athletic (my least favourite Premiership side after T*ttenham) the week before, changes would have to be afoot to put smiles back on committed Hammers fans faces as the Champions, Manchester City, visited East London. Posts on here before have already drooled over the performance, and as one of the few times I can remember cheering a draw for West Ham, I can’t help but agree with all of the glowing reports. But will it be a great start to an unlikely run of results in November? Or is it a false dawn, getting my hopes up once again. A feeling I’m used to as a West Ham fan!

Next up is Newcastle United. Away. Therefore cold. The Magpies in my opinion were last year’s surprise package. Though the majority of West Ham fans knew about the dangerous abilities of Demba Ba, the likes of Tim Krul and Papiss Cisse amongst others also shone. With Alan Pardew no doubt wanting to prove something to his former employers, we have to be wary for the long journey. Hopefully Carroll and Nolan will also want to prove a point, and though our away form isn’t spectacular, with Coloccini and Tiote suspended, I fancy us to get something.

Following Newcastle is Stoke under the tutelage of Tony Pulis. I loathe to bemoan Stoke, or their tactics, as Pulis, I believe, has done a good job. My only gripe with them is they just seem a bit bland. Like gravy. Nothing exciting to write home about, but with a couple big lumps in it. However, cooking similies aside, this game won’t be easy. I’m also sure the media (Daily Mail) will have us believe it won’t be pretty. Though Stoke’s tactics and abilities are effective, under the lights at The Boleyn Ground can be daunting and difficult (ask Mancini!) So with the crowd behind us, it’s again, not beyond fantasy, to get something.

November 25th. T*ttenham away. 0-3. Kevin Nolan, Mark Noble, Andy Carroll. Easy as peas! Our final game of the month sees us visit Old Trafford. A Wednesday evening at the home of the most successful side in Premiership history is not something many sides look forward to. Especially just a few days before hosting the Champions of Europe. I very rarely expect us to get anything out of games like this, but Wigan aside, Sam seems to have instilled some battle and passion in the side. I genuinely believe that even if we come away with nothing, then a good performance could set us up for a competitive match against Chelsea. Am I too optimistic!? Probably. But, the game at the weekend against Man City, especially after the Wigan debacle, has set my mind to being encouraged and confident. A clean sheet versus the champions AND a perfectly good goal by Super Kev chalked off does this to you. However, watching the world go by through claret and blue tinted glasses means I’m often wrong, but there’s no harm in dreaming! Give me a shout, let me know what you think Keep blowing bubbles
