Not what we were hoping for

|

Well where to start? 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur is not exactly the result we were all hoping for to say the least, to be honest we weren’t really in the game from start to finish.

Spurs held 65% of the possession and had 25 shots – hitting the post and crossbar! My match report is that we were VERY POOR I don’t think much more needs said about this game other than that. I am not willing to begin to slate our team that has had a marvellous start to the season and that has show great grit and determination over what is our worst game to date this season. This is just a bad day at the office – it kills me to say but we were beaten by the better team and a team that has great players that could give any team in the league a run for their money especially a newly promoted club.

What I can do is talk what happens from here and what we do now and where we go!!

I feel that there were a few mistakes made in the team selection for example, Modibo Maiga isn’t a winger and the sooner Big Sam Allardyce realises this the better, in fairness Maiga needs to show us what he can do but for him to do that he needs a run out in his position as a forward. I have said all season that poor George McCartney isn’t a Premier League left back and I feel that is a position that needs looked at. I have also said that Jussi isn’t the good keeper he once was but I have to hand it to him he is putting in a few good performances (with a few little mistake though).

Looking at our bench today was also a little disappointing and I feel we need to add a bit of depth to the squad so we can change the game when we need to like today. If we had an attacking player that is not scared to run at defences that could have helped. Ricardo Vaz Te has a good impact on defences and I can’t wait for him to come back from his injury.

So to sum it up today was a bad day at the office, we have had a hard run with two tough games before this in Manchester City and Stoke. We also have a hard run after this in Manchester United and Chelsea so the team may be getting tired, with there not being much on the bench the team doesn’t really change too much. But the plus side is that Andy Carroll finally got that monkey off his back with his first goal and this could spur him on and open the flood gates of goals from Big Andy…

So yeah it was a bad game for us today but let’s get behind our team and let’s not forget that we are a newly promoted club and miracles can’t be worked straight away – we are still 8th so still not doing to bad.
