A few thoughts from the international break

|

Hello once again my Hammers. The less said about the Poland v England game the better. YAWN.

Onto the serious stuff now though, it has come to my attention that riots, violence and racism are becoming far too common in football domestically and internationally these days, with the world wide case of John Terry and Anton Ferdinand, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Patrice Evra, Luis Suarez and not to mention the abuse from the fans at the recent Euros and now toward the England under 21’s against Serbia plus the constant riots in the Africa Nations Cup.

Now I ask this question that I’ve wanted to ask for years – WHY? Do people not understand that as much as you make monkey sounds at people, call them names, beat up the other fans because your team lost, shout constant abuse and tweet things about people, that the people are still going to be there, no matter where they are from or the colour of their skin or what team they support they will always be there? I personally think it is wrong and I would love to see much more serious outcomes toward anybody who is directly involved in acts of violence and racism! Yes there will forever and always be banter and rivalries within football because the passion is so high from the fans and players, I have moaned and slated teams myself but i have never been abusive or racist toward another club or human being. Me and 99% of people hate all of this so I want this paragraph to make people realise that not enough is being done about it and that we should try our best and support as many groups to kick this whole thing out of football as best as possible!

So now a look at the international games. England put in a fairly average display in a 5-0 victory over San Marino, yes I did say average and there is a very good reason for it – we didn’t have to go all out and risk picking up injuries against a team we could beat going at 50% and I feel if we wanted to play at 100% we could have put many more past them but it was a strong win, a smart win and a much needed win and our lad Andy Carroll made an appearance so well done England!

The result against Poland wasn’t the result we was looking for and if we are to contend with the best teams in the world we should really be winning games against teams lower down the FIFA rankings even if we play badly, we are top of our group though so it isn’t all bad but with the players we have you cant help but think we should be doing better. Scotland are really struggling right now which is a shame because they have the players to do very well. As for Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland, they are pretty much winning and losing the games you would expect them to win or lose minus the truly amazing 1-1 draw Northern Ireland picked up against Portugal.

Our players did well internationally, Modibo Magia scored to put Mali through 7-1 on aggregate against Botswana. Momo Diame started for Senegal with Guy Demel an unused substitute for Ivory Coast where Senegal were 6-2 on aggregate before the game was called off due to riots. The rest of our players away were unused which is good as they will be fresher for the weekend!

One last bit, out of the players at our club, who would you like to see playing for their national teams? The stand out one for me is Mark Noble, after years of playing hard and playing well I would love to see him make his England debut soon, he would play well for England and would wear the shirt with pride just like he does with the claret and blue! So name the players and give a reason why they should play for their respective nations and also any views on my racism and violence rant earlier in the article?

Thank you for reading and once again COYI!
