First team favourite or luxury sub?

|

With West Ham acquiring the services of Chelsea’s Yossi Benayoun for the season, many fans will be happy to see some depth added to the squad and welcome his return. But at the same time, it’s hard to forget how he left the club – verbally agreeing a new deal with the Hammers but then hot-footing it to Anfield, the sneak!

Anyway, back to the task in hand. Will we use Yossi as a first teamer or as a sub? Well for me, we’ve got to utilise him in the substitute position, unless injuries call for him to have first team action automatically.

Our current midfield of Mark Noble, Kevin Nolan and Mohamed Diame has startedbrightly as a unit this season, and the wings are already solid with Ricardo Vaz Te and Matthew Taylor fulfilling their duties and linking up with defenders well. We seem tobe creating a lot of chances and the players are hungry for goals.

I’m just not sure who would make way for him, and they do say it’s not a good idea to change a winning team! And obviously we’re going to keep our good form once the international break is over…

Benayoun had a good loan spell at Arsenal, although he only made 19 appearances – 9 of which were from the bench. He managed to score 4 league goals, which isn’t bad going considering his lack of first team football!

Maybe we should learn from Arsenal’s example and use him as a super sub or rotation player. I just don’t think we have cause to change the team we’ve already been fielding, injuries aside. You lot know how much I love James Tomkins and I don’t even think he should automatically be in the team anymore!

But enough about me, what do you think? Let me know @alwaysintune.

Yossi should only be used as a impact player for the last 20mins of the game, depending on wether we are chasing or winning games at the time, but Noble Diame and Nolan are all performing well at present, especially Mark Noble who deserves a new contract and should be on a wage similar or even higher than Kevin Nolan, as he gives his all for the club he loves COY!

i think benayoun will play more with carlton cole he prefers the ball to his feet then feed off his touches.

i agree noble is class if anyone deserves their wages its him.

I think alou diara will make a midfield spot his own when he’s given a chance. He’s a player nobody has really got excited about but trust me he will be superb for us.

have to agree about diarra watched him against Crewe looked a class above very calm on the ball , yossi on from the bench !

  • Swhammer says:

Bubble dweller, you have to be kidding?! From where I was sitting he was the worst whu player on the pitch! After 30mins he was hands On knees, shattered. I agree he may come good, but his fitness seems to be about on par with mine right now! COYI

lb taylor lm yossi give him a chance take him off at half time keep on doing this until match fitnes

  • Roy says:

I love Noble but he does have the habit of giving the ball away. Not good in the EPL. yossi will unlock defences when games are tight. Good buy for us.

One half decent game and he becomes a world beater .Noble is West Ham to the core . BUT HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.He gives the ball away , lets people run behind him and never scores in open play . Yossi is a class above but not sure about his fitness . Fully fit he would be great for us . Noble should give some of his wages to Nolan for letting him play with the same ball as him .
