Kaka?

|

It’s that time of year when the club looks at the number of season tickets still left to sell and then makes an audacious and often outrageous bid to sign a world class player to give the fans a real incentive to buy the last few. Ronaldinho, Neymar and Remy all immediately spring to mind. It may be me being slightly negative, but in my mind these bids have never been too serious.

However, I must say, I do like the ambition of the current owners, if these rumours are proved to be true. The two Davids do love the club and it is obvious to see when there are claims going around today that we are willing to give 100k-a-week to Liverpool’s Andy Carroll. Whether you believe that he is worth it or not (and I highly doubt many people would agree that he was), you have to be feeling positive about the amount that the owners are willing to pump into the club.

Rumours spread last week about an outrageous bid to bring former World Player of the Year Kaka to Upton Park. To me, it would seem wrong to see the Brazilian Samba King playing alongside Andy Carroll; the biggest asset to the long-ball game in England, at Upton Park. It’s like asking Xavi and Iniesta to go long to their new star signing Peter Crouch, it just wouldn’t make sense.

Sam Allardyce does have a history of bringing top quality players to mid-table clubs. When at Bolton Wanderers, he brought in Jay-Jay Okocha (so good they named him twice) and Jose Enrique when at Newcastle United. Moreover, rumours are going round that there could be potential investors willing to invest heavily into the club. So it is a possibility that a big name could be on their way to Upton Park, could it be Carroll, Joselu, or even a dramatic move for Carlos Tevez? Whoever the ‘big’ name signing will be, it looks a if it most certainly WON’T be Kaka. His agent has said that Kaka only wants a “Milan move or nothing”.

It seems to be same old West Ham in the transfer window this year, so much talk, so little action. But as things start to heat up, perhaps we could see double figures been spent on players before the first of September.

Do you think we will sign a ‘big’ name signing? Is it all just to sell more season tickets? Would you like to see Carroll on 100k-a-week? Tweet me @TollyCoburn

Wouldnt agree with the ticket-selling comment.

We’ve almost hit our ceiling for season tickets and I don’t see the club being so desperate to flog a few thousand seats that they’d make up lies.

I think the end of the Olympics will signal the beginning of interesting times for West Ham.

If the club knows already that we will get the olympic stadium the sale of the boleyn will Pay off any debt we still have, meaning these deals may not be just rumours. For me that is a lot of iffs and butts. But you can pay a whopper of a wage if you have a 55000 seater stadium. Wishful thinking, it always has been for me, I support West Ham.

Every window we have this, don’t we?

This window we’ve been linked with (thus far):-
Tevez, Carroll, Kaka, Seedorf, Guti, Elia, Krasic, Ramis, & a few others… Guti would have rather retired than play for us (whic he did!), and Ramis opted for Wigan over us… Says it all really.

Yet we’ve ended up with a few free transfers & James Collins (no disrespect, I was very happy with the signings as they were solid ones.) So to me, there just a little bit too much optimism floating around the Boleyn at the moment. However, I hope I’m proven wrong.

If you consider the £19m transfer fee + £100k a week wage they were prepared to offer Andy Carroll, they could at least attempt to bag Tevez with that amount of money. City want £25m for him but no one’s willing to pay that so if they get desperate to offload him and fund their swoop for RVP, they might be willing to lower their valuation to £20-22m. I know his wages are over £250k a week which would be a serious stumbling block but lets be honest, LOWERING your wage to £100k a week hardly screams poverty and if he loved the club like the claims to it wouldn’t be an issue.
