FIVE players from Euro 2012 who West Ham could benefit from

|

1. Gebre Selassie

While his Czech Republic side may have been humiliated by the Russian force on Friday night, Selassie is an enterprising right back who could become a stable addition to a position

that has troubled West Ham this past season. Currently at FC Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic, the twenty five year old could be available this transfer window for an affordable price.

2. Jack Butland

Despite being highly unlikely to feature at all at Euro 2012 bar a goalkeeping apocalypse, Butland is an excellent goalkeeper bound for a great future. With Robert Green seemingly already out of the West Ham door, Butland, currently at Birmingham City, may not be able to compete for the number one jersey just yet, but the nineteen year old is certainly one to keep an eye on.

3. Michael Krohn-Dehli

A left winger who likes to cut inside to put the ball on his right foot, Krohn-Dehli can be expected to make an impact on Denmark’s Euro 2012 campaign. Part of a settled Danish first

eleven, Denmark will turn to Krohn-Dehli for creativity and flair. With West Ham currently without any natural wingers, Krohn-Dehli is a player who could solve that problem.

4. Artur Sobiech

While he will be in the shadow of his Polish striking counterpart Robert Lewandowski, Sobiech is a young striker with natural goal scoring ability. Currently in and out of the Hannover side in Germany, Sobiech is a true number nine who can play up front alone or with a strike partner. May not play a big part for Poland this tournament, but is a name for the future.

5. Kevin Doyle

The man who will spearhead the Irish attack, Doyle is an excellent striker despite being part of the Wolves side that was relegated. As fans of the Premier League are aware, Doyle is a highly sought after man who plays best with a number ten in the hole to create opportunities for him. Doyle is likely to be on the move from the midlands, and West Ham are a team who would certainly benefit from his striking prowess.

never buy players based on what they do in an international tournament

    see:
    Breen, Gary
    Radichoui, Florin

Doyle? Great(!) Another hard working ‘striker’ that doesn’t find the net. The new Iain Dowie.

  • Kevin Nolan's Sisters says:

I’d concur with cb – tournament performances don’t usually count for much. 10 years ago and Gary Breen the best example.

Saying that Winston Reid hasn’t been bad.

  • Robohammer says:

The Italian RB(No 2) and the midfielder(No 8) looked good and probably expensive!

  • GibraltarHamer says:

Krohn Deli is not a good buy, he always been average and played in the lower regions of the Dutch League with RKC and never realy made an impact.

  • Lloyd says:

Maggio is 30 and plays for Napoli. Probably wouldn’t be that expensive when you consider his age.

  • Garry says:

Doyle would be ok but there are better strikers out there that we should get . We need flair and pace in our side

  • spuds hater says:

david capel of sporting lisbon looks a good player.

  • Tonka says:

I’ve always liked Kim Kallstrom of Sweden – a player who has been linked with us before. Experienced defensive midfielder with excellent left footed pass and shot.
