Hammers first Premier League signing?

|

So let’s imagine Hammers fulfil their Premier League destiny on the 19th May at the new Wembley Stadium and achieve promotion. Most Hammers fans will recognise that some serious rebuilding will have to be undertaken to the first team squad.

Who would you sign as your marquee signing to show we really mean business in the Prem?

Here are my thoughts, for me despite Big Sam’s efforts I don’t believe we have signed a true 20 goal a season striker. Maynard & Vaz Te certainly have potential but the Premier League is a large leap to make for any Championship striker.

There is one striker that can fit the bill for us, he has consistently scored at the top level, possesses lightning pace and would suit Big Sam’s style of play down to a tee and that player is Darren Bent.

Bent has been at the top of his game for many seasons now and would certainly not come cheap but with Villa struggling in the league and their ambition being questioned by their own supporters, Bent may look for a fresh start back home in London with the mighty Hammers.

Of course Bent nearly signed for the Hammers a few years back before opting to join Tottenham where his time was overshadowed by some flippant comments from Harry Redknapp which hit the back pages.

Darren Bent has been transferred for no less that £53 million in his career and would command a double digit figure if West Ham were to bid but I’m sure the England striker would fire the vital goals needed to keep West ham in the top division.

Does Darren Bent strike you as a good signing?

Who would you sign if you held the key to the two David’s safe?

If I had the keys to his safe??? Well Tevez for a start!!! But if it had to suit big sam’s style o play then it would probably be crouch and zigic 🙂

I’d sign reo coker – defoe – bellamy – lampard – only joking although they are good players apart from Reo coker, i feel we need steel in the midfield to break up attacks from the cream that flourishes in the premier league, we all love a hard man tackler, nigel dejong or even lee cattermole, would fit the bill , plus some quality wingers like etherington or trev sinclair, we need some excitement running with the ball rather than pump and run, wish list ribery or robben

Yea I agree with you Carlos coming home would be amazing! Think we should raid the tottenham scums bench, Defoe, Lennon even pavlechenko would be a good buy but I wouldn’t be suprised if bfs signs Kevin Davies or yakubu you know were guna get s few more ex Blackburn or boltons players lol

  • Hammers says:

Not a chance. A double digit figure? Surely they’re gonna want more than a tenner for him…

  • Vanderelst says:

Lille – south fo France or just below the border with Belgium?…..

  • Simon says:

Is there really any point in speculating about potential signings until we actually know whether we will be in the Premier League or not? If/when we are promoted then by all means speculate as much as you like, but until then it’s all very pointless.

If we beat Blackpool ? then we can start looking defenders

  • Bm says:

Personaly hoillet seems abit better choice him with vaz te an cole in the middle sounds good

  • I’d rather have these. All are available, and cheap. But only on a two year contract. John Terry, Yossi Benayoun, Joey Barton, Didier Drogba and Andy Carroll on loan for a year.
