A decision we could regret?

|

So this week has seen the departure of a number of players, one of which was Julien Faubert.

In all honesty it’s no surprise that he’s left because the first half of the season aside, he’s hardly been a key player or even a first team player during his time at Upton Park.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Will it be a move we come to regret though? Earlier this season when we were short on centre halves, the decision to sell Da Costa was looking to be a regrettable one and I hope we don’t look back on this in the same way.

I think it’s probably the best move for all involved as he’s seeking first team football and to be blunt, he wouldn’t be my first choice right back or winger. Or even second for that matter. He would provide good cover and his versatility in that he can play anywhere down the right is a useful asset to use but if he wants first team football and he’s not regarded a starting player at the club then it does appear to be a good move for all involved, especially as he was a big earner!

I do think we need another right back though as both Joey O’Brien and Guy Demel have their weaknesses but maybe Jordan Spence will get his chance in the first team, at long last it has to be said!

Excellent pace but couldn’t cross a road. I think i have seen one decent cross from him in 5 years when he set up Ilan for a header at Everton. Apart from that he has been distinctly average.

have a day off mate…over the years his been with us not once have i seen him justify the 6.1 million we paid for him. Lovely guy, always gave his all, but simply was a poor signing and I’m sorry Julien I’m glad to see the back of you.

Agree, wish him well with wherever he goes but we must do better than him if we are to stabilise ourselves back in the PL and then move forwards.

i have said from day one that he wouldnt get into my local pub side, he is the worst player ever to put on a hammers shirt, a shocking excuse for a footballer, i dont wish him well i wish he would hang up his boots i never want to see him dis-grace a football field again. faupart.

He wasent that bad, ive seen alot worse! But to be honest writer you are contridicting yourself. Your saying he wouldent be your 1st or 2nd choice at RB or RM but we were paying in 60k + anyone on that sort of money cannot be a squad player, its too expensive!! COYI

a mature comment i see. long live democracy.
… Julian Faubert in my opinion has been a good servant to the club, despite poor treatment from managers and fans alike. i was ashamed at some of the stuff i heard at upton park aimed in Faubert’s direction. So much for “support”.
physically he is a match for most wingers. quick and strong and is concentrated in the tackle. his commitment was always there. … his technique was lacking yes. that was clear for everyone as he made some daft errors that cost us points. but the first half of the season he was one of the better performers for us. for me, he’s a useful lad to have around the squad. i agree not my first choice either but certainly a reliable backup or man to man marker. … i wish him well in his future career and i dont understand anyone who wont at least to that.

What a load of bollocks and the most dumbest thing I have ever heard worst player to pull on a hammers shirt! The lad was one of the most improved players last season, he came on in the final against Blackpool and showed Demel how to defend against there quick winger. We should had retained him at least for one more season good cover and will always give 110%. I for one am sad to see him go and wish him well for the future.

The decisions to sell Da Costa is irrelivant because the players that stepped in have contributed to achieving the goal or promotion.

The decision to release Faubert will also be irrelivant in my opinion because he did not offer enough to justify his wages.

He was an ok player, but we can do better for the money and regardless of what happens it IS the right decision.

last season faubert was our highest earner, hard to believe, but the biscuit men handed him a 70k a week contract, as you say he is not good enough to play in the first team, his contract was up, he wanted to move on, i can’t see the problem. nolan, cole and vaz te all put together were on less than faubert, surely we should invest it in a player that will improve our team rather than sit in the stands

  • daz says:

one more thing, elmo the egyption at sunderland is a clone of faubert, quick, can play rb/rm but can actually cross a ball and head, best of all he will be on 1/4 of the wages, he might be looked at as an option but personally i would pass and go for jarvis from wolves

  • John J - Ripon says:

If Faubert was worth £70k a week, how can Greeno not be worth £50k?

He had his moments and the pace was useful at times, not least when we were under the kosh second half against Blackpool – that double substitution by BS changed the game.

Will always be disappointed, as when Faubert signed I thought he was going to be awesome. Remember that Youtube Video?!! We should’ve reported that vid to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Good luck Julian – you could do well in another league. Hope so.
