Loan to permanent?

|

So, Danny Collins made quite the impression in his full debut for West Ham, scoring the equaliser against Leeds. But, would it be worth trying to secure a permanent move to the Hammers from Stoke in the summer?

I personally would say that it is, even if just for cover. At the moment, the future of George McCartney is also uncertain, although it is widely believed that he will also be signing a permanent deal after a successful loan spell in claret and blue.

Collins has come to West Ham at the exact right time, covering for Reid’s injury and also allowing Big Sam to have a bit more freedom in deciding Tomkin’s playing position with the injury of Papa Bouba Diop.

I think Collins has given solid if not technically brilliant displays, and think that we should be able to negotiate a good transfer fee with Stoke, as he was expecting to move in the January transfer window anyway.

However, the fact that he’s out of favour at Stoke does ring alarm bells as it may be that he cannot perform at the highest level, which is obviously where we’re all hoping West Ham will be come next season!

I do think that Collins would be a good addition to the squad, but I would be reluctant for Big Sam to spend big bucks on what could essentially be a fringe player in the Premier League, if his Stoke career is to be trusted.

ive supported west ham all my life and have always looked really forward to watching west ham play whether that would be at home or away or in my living room, but for the first time ever i cannot stand to even watch a match after the boring displays we have put on this season. im startingto see a lot of similarities between west ham and england under fabio. its boring to watch with no entertainment and no fight and the players seem quite frankly like they dont have a clue. i will not be watching anymore games this season and if the dire football continues next season i will be off watching another team that do play exciting football. (i cant believe what im saying but i cant spend my money watching that shower of s*@t!! ive got better things to spend my money on!) i personally think big sam should be shown the big boot and get someone in who can manage an attacking team who are enjoyable to watch! so i dont care who we sign just get our good style of play back< thats enough for me.

I cant see what everyone is moaning about, the “West Ham Way” what way is that? losing? being an embarrassment? teams looking at us and thinking that we will be an easy 3 points? when did we play the west ham way last? under Zola? Grant perhaps? we are undefeated in 9 games, ok draws are not that great, but last season? we were beaten in 9 won 1. we were pony last year hence why we were relegated before the end of the season, the year before we barely managed to stay up, we need good defence strong play and a good manager.
that manager is Sam, give him a break, we have lost 7 games? thats it. he has our best ever record of wins vs games, we keep moaning about him and he goes who next? The fans need to sort their buzz out and support the hammers and the manager. he IS the man we need, he will and has made us hard to beat, leeds game, if we went 1 goal down last season we would have conceeded more goals and got a proper kicking.

Nothing to do with style of play or football snobberY Nathan, allardyce’s tactics just aren’t effective at this level. We don’t all unappreciate him, it’s a timing issue.

i agree a timing issue, and now is the time we need to have a solid team, do we as fans want so called fancy football and lose games? or do we want to grind results out and be hard to beat but not look maybe the prettiest? the comments i have read so far have been ALL about style of play.

I agree with jay. timing was wrong. i think if wed have bought in allardyce midway through last season we may have had a chance of staying up because teams would attack us n he would teach them to soak up pressure and stay in games that we were aniallated in under grant. but now teams sit back against us, especially at home and big sams tactics dont work. With the money weve spent we could have had a manager that would have bought young talented players and had a team that play attractive football and get results. Look at Swansea. perhaps a more risky approach in gold n sullivans eyes but going down was a chance to rebuild and instead weve bought in average players with experience, and if we do go up with them we are only going to have to rebuild our squad again.

i think jay and you are half right, i agree if we had took sam last year in january we would have stayed up especially with Ba and Hitzlesperger, however we never changed manager and we have Sam NOW and now is the time for us to carry on, teams sit back now, but only because they know we can win, look at the start of the season when we were winning 4 or 4 nil, why? because all the teams thought we would be relegation hangover for a long time. Sam got that out of us and has made us hard to beat.
