A letter to our owners

|

Dear Mr Sullivan & Mr Gold,

With the news that West Ham Utd have submitted a proposal to be the new tenants of the Olympic stadium you have taken a bold step in rewriting the future of our beloved club.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

I, as an avid Hammers fan would ask you to consider what makes West Ham the great club that it is? In my opinion it’s the passion of your supporters and the atmosphere that can be created in the Boleyn.

Moving to the Olympic Stadium runs the risk of destroying one of those great attributes. Please tell us that you have some plans to address this, whether through redesigning the terrace to cover the running track or converting it into safe standing areas.

Looking for experience? Just want to be heard outside of the Boleyn? We are currently looking for writers, drop us an email at foreverwestham@snack-media.com for more details

Most West ham supporters including myself realise the financial need for the Hammers to move in order to compete with the best and to rid the club of the huge debt that sits on its shoulders but I can assure you that each and every one of the supporters will not sacrifice the atmosphere the Boleyn can create for the sake of

clearing debts.

When you took over the club you knew the situation was dire and at that time the Olympic stadium was not in the picture at all. I’m sure that you bought this club because of what it meant to you both, the memories you had as children and ‘that atmosphere’.

I guess what I’m saying is that any amount of debt does not warrant potentially killing off what is special about supporting West Ham. Please make sure you have thought through this move and how you plan to recreate the buzz of a rocking Upton park. If

you haven’t then you run the risk of being the hammers fans that killed the very club that they love.

Apply now for the dream job – Read about West Ham and YOU get PAID http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham

So far you have both shown your commitment and loyalty to West Ham and compared to the years of Brown, Cearns & co you are virtual saints but be sure not to become the villains of Upton Park.

Steve Deare

There is no doubt in my mind that BFS’s remit is to get us back in the premiership at all costs. BFS keeps saying that we keep creating enough chances to win games but simply getting the ball in the box isnt exactly creating chances but thats by the way! Once we’re back there and in the OS all sorts of people are going to want a piece of the action! Be it some oligarch, arab, american, financial consortium or whoever and the Dave’s will more than get their money back? Is this going to be a good deal for West Ham or someone else? I do not want to play in a stadium like the emerates with a load of weekend visitors on a package trip to London! I want a football ground full of West Ham supporters and atmosphere! With all the money the Dave’s and the bank, have put into West Ham can you not see them getting their money back if all our assets, including the ground Chadwell Heath etc were sold? If that is the case, dont think we have seen the figures, where’s the risk? Are the Dave’s our saviours or are they in it for the fame and fortune? If the OS was not a part of this would they have got involved and put their hands in their pockets? If we dont get the OS will they fork out to finish the Boyleyn? That’d really be putting their money where their mouth’s are? I dont know that we have actually seen the full financial figures and I really do hope I am wrong! What happened to the land the previous owners bought for the new training facility? If we dont get the OS and can’t develop where we are is the old post office depot by West Ham tube station still a proposition?

Some of you fans just don’t see the danger of what is going on here. MOVE to the OS, West Ham will be renting their ground. KNOCK DOWN and sell the Boleyn, West Ham will have NO home they can call their own.
Think about THAT if the club ever hit hard times – like NOT getting promoted if we mess up in the play-offs.
HOMELESS Hammers is not a headline I ever want to see. Please keep us at the Boleyn. At least the club own it!

  • Dylan says:

You mention the great atmosphere our fans create, however that is only now for our away games Im afraid. At home you can often here a pin drop (in between the angry shouts and booing off our own team). Im afraid the atmosphere has long gone and is now nothing more than a romantic memory of our good old days (and lets face it we havent won anything since 1980 and our best ever position was 3rd in 1986, what else have we done since then). This notion that we have a great home for our fans is out dated and needs to have a more realistic view in order for our club to move forward. The rail system is over crowded, The chicken run cannot be developed, Green Street is over crowded on match day and horrible to get out of (if using the tube). A new stadium is the answer, a ready made one is within our grasp and the money used from the sale of thr round will pay off the debts and will allow us to invest in the team…..

    • Steve Deare says:

      Hi,

Agree with what you are saying with regard to current atmosphere but my point is the two Davids must insure that the stadium has the potentaial to create an electric atmosphere. Imagine if the atmosphere you speak of currently was a permanent fixture, it doesn’t bare thinking about.

  • IronMike says:

Famous atmosphere at the boleyn?????? Unfortunatley this is a thing of the past now. I’m a loyal hammer and being going to home games for over 10 years and have always been proud of a diehard support. But, after heading to the game on tues i realised that its just not the case anymore. The atmosphere was dead!, infact it was like a pub! The 2 guys standing beside me stood and chatted to each other the whole game and i can barely remember 1 chorus of ‘bubbles’.
I simply put this down to how bad our home form has been for about the last 4 to 5 years now. There’s only so much supporters can take before they get restless and in my eyes we’ve already been more than patient with the team.
A few years ago before we hired Zola I suggested to a few fellow hammers we should go for Di Canio as manager ……. to which i was promptly laughed out of the room. I still think this might be our best hope of turning our fortunes around. Its not that i have anything against Big Sam but we need someone who’s gonna get that place rocking again and I see Di Canio as the ideal man for the job. We need someone with Charisma, Belief, Hunger, Passion, who plays good football and most importantly loves the club to the core! What does everyone think?

Question: Our last 3 managers Curbs, Zola, Grant, are all still unemployed! Is there another club in the country with that kind of record? and why do you think they’re all still out of work?

    • Bob says:

Yep PDC and Jose on the same touchline but opposite teams. Now that would spice up the atmosphere . COYI.

  • Steve hawen says:

The only reason you can here a pin drop in the BG is because of the lack lustre performances. You need to excite and get bums off seats. Even BFS made a comment about the away support yesterday. We entertained them and went for it a bit more!!! If you did that at home it might be surprising how much noise would be generated.

  • Steve Deare says:

The lack of inspiration at UP is certainly a factor in the lack of atmosphere but there remains the potential for it to be sparked back in to life, something that i cannot see happening at the OS.

Di Canio is i’m afraid not the answer, far to inexperienced at this moment in time, perhaps in a few years.

    • Ian Walker says:

Atmosphere at upton park as at 99% of grounds is now a thing of the past i’m afraid and cannot be a consideration anymore. as for Di Canio not been experienced enough i’ve never heard such rubbish, could we possibly have a more experienced manager tha BFS and he hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing. If your good enough your old enough not if your tall enough your in. Football is an entertainment medium if you are going to charge people £30 to £50 to come in you have to entertain them. Di Canio win lose or draw will provide entertainment simples

  • Keith says:

I have also written to the club.

    Dera David’s,

Please ignore all pleas from fans not to move to Stratford. Its always the fans that hold West Ham back but they blame everyone else. Get us out of Upton Park and at least give us the chance to grow.

    Keithy.

  • Shaz says:

Have to say I totally agree with Dylan and Ironmike in my opinion the atmosphere at the Boleyn Ground has not been the same since we built the new west stand – I’ve been a season ticket holder for years and I can pin point it to that specific time – well at least that’s when I first noticed the crowd booing their own team – will never be able to fathom “supporters” doing that just can’t see what it achieves. My only reservation about the OS is that we may end up with even more “boo boys” to contend with. I’m thinking of getting an away season ticket next year because I am so fed up with it.

  • Jacqui Stasiuk says:

Ich kann dir nur von “Alpina-Finanz” abraten. Die bieten genau das an.Das ist Betrug.

  • Chaz brown says:

Being at Upton park makes me feel as if im close to the team, I feel apart of the club, our atmosphere isn’t as bad as people make out and in the premier it will be better because people know we need to get behind them if we want to go up, I’d rather be in league two than being a new club as I see it, a staduim which most fans dont want, next they will change the badge and then we will be west ham olimpic before you no it, im one season which will be lost along with 4 family members also A fan that goes up and down the country.

  • Leomario says:

Oh glad you could hear the festival. I preefr not to be in the thick of crowds, personally. Once, while living in Queens, NY, I was able to hear a Rolling Stones concert from my roof when they played at Shea (baseball) stadium… such fond memories.
