Can Noble and Nolan co-exist?

|

So after a derby-day win to remember and savour (I do have to laugh at the fact Millwall have waited 6 long years play us again in the league…it’s come and gone with no wins for the Lions.) One question on the mind of Hammers fans around the world who tuned in to witness a truly remarkable performance…just what does become of Kevin Nolan when his ban is over?

After our skipper was sent from the pitch a truly inspirational and majestic performance was put in by our ten men and we thoroughly deserved the three points. No man was more liberated than Mark Noble who was truly immense as he snapped into tackle after tackle, sprayed the ball about with precision and led his boyhood club to victory.

So can Noble and Nolan co-exist? Noble really seemed to relish the added responsibility and rose to the occasion in a way that has become rarer as the years have rolled by. I remember when Noble was recalled from his loan spell at Ipswich in the year of the great escape; he partnered Nigel Reo-Coker in central midfield and put in performances like Saturday’s every week. So I ask the question has Noble’s progression been hampered by playing second fiddle to Parker and now Nolan?

Should more trust and faith have been placed upon Noble’s shoulders? With hindsight should the club instead of spending 3.5 million on Nolan and giving him wages thought to be in the region of 60k a week. Have said to Noble ‘this is your time son, go on and lead your club to promotion?’ This subject is a bit of a conundrum as both men are quality players; we all know about Noble’s attributes and Kevin Nolan down the years has proved himself to be a quality attacking midfielder.

Is this problem a smaller scale Lampard/Gerrard debate? Fine individually, but as a partnership you’ll never see the best of them? We have a lot of quality in central midfield with the aforementioned Noble, Nolan add to that Collison, Lansbury, Diop and now Ravel Morrison; finding the right blend/balance to get the best out everyone is going to be an on-going process.

With 17 games to go all that matters is that we keep winning; though it will be interesting to see how the team cope without the skipper for the next three games…more performances like Saturday’s and Nolan might just struggle to get back in.

Sorry mate but what a load of crap.

Obviously Noble is the Hammer of the year there is no doubt about that, but please tell me how you even ask the question can they CO-EXIST.

People need to get off Nolan’s back, its not just what a player does with the ball (even though he is out second top scorer and scored some match winning goals) its what he does off the ball. He is always all throughout the game defending from the front, chasing defenders down. Can i remind everyone of Brighton, Nolan won that game for us then the team defended as a solid unit.
Not only all of this but Nolan is the best captain on and off the pitch we have had in YEARS.

How everyone jumps on his back is beyond me, yes he has had a couple of games where he hasn’t played up to his high standards, but every player has a game like this, but just because its Nolan everybody is getting upset about it.
He is our captain and a damn good one at that, he is a great leader, in his absence we will survive but we are much stronger with him.

So in answer to your stupid statement ‘Nolan might struggle to get back in’… shut up and get behind the captain.

Anyone who says drop Nolan is speaking absolute S**T. But then again its probably the fans who don’t have a clue about football or how a club is run.

I think Nolan has been a complete waste of money. It was an insult to Nobes that he was not given the armband. If anyone aver listens to the radio on away game they will hear the commentators saying that Nolan needs to step u and work harder and l totally agree. I am glad he is out and l hope the team will show what they can do without him, Not worth 6o grand think of Parker he was getting that and there is no comparison. Noble has been hampered by Parker and Nolan but l was happier with Parker’s attitude and work rate

Fact is, Noble played better last season when Parker was missing. Same situation here with Nolan. Sit back and enjoy his performances over the next few games, I guarantee it.

Firstly Craig I am entitled to my opinion same as you so I will most certainly not ‘shut it’ as you so eloquently put it. I was given a question to write about and I did, its a valid question as Nolan hasn’t been the all conquering force he was for Newcastle in this league a couple of years back. At no point do I criticise Nolan I simply ask the question is he hampering Noble’s performances. Again a valid question given how Noble performed against Millwall. I will never stop giving my opinion so don’t make a mug of yourself by asking me not to. We live in a democracy for FFS!
And Jon thanks very much for the constructive criticism seriously what’s the point of leaving such a comment without having the nouse to back it up with examples or insightful comments?

I agree with Craig… your talking rubbish.

Your articles are for the football fans who know f**k all and spend all there time moaning.

I don’t see it as a valid question seeing as Noble is 100% player of the year and its probably because he has an outstanding captain and player next to him.

So I’m with Craig here, and when you babble on about a democracy it outlines exactly what type of person you are.

Stop whining and if your going to write about anything, write about positives. Your clearly one of those fans who likes to moan, maybe Arsenal is a better suit for you!!!

I wont launch into a tirade at the drivel that you wrote ‘anonymous’ but secretly I suspect Craig mostly ’cause you probably wouln’t be able to understand it.
All I’ll say is the very fact that you mention I should go and support another club show’s what kind of a person you are.
But thanks for reading. Your comments (though ill informed and without an ounce of evidence to back them up) are much appreciated.
