Could these Hammers be off to China?

|

Ambitious Chinese club Guangzhou R&F want to sign John Carew and Carlton Cole from West Ham.

The club have just clinched promotion to the Chinese Super League, ironically helped by the goals of another ex-Hammer striker, Marlon Harewood. However, Harewood is now back in the UK and Guangzhou want to replace him with fresh English-based talent.

They have sent an agent to offer lucrative tax-free salaries to Carew and Cole, but sources at Upton Park insist a deal is unlikely.

Although as said unlikely and it is, because I highly doubt Big Sam will let two key strikers go, it is something that I’m sure will be pondered by the Irons as the lure of a few pound notes may be stronger than the need to keep two players.

It is now the time for thinking about players’ futures as the January transfer window looms large and the rumours and speculation are sure too be as common as an annoying West Ham performance.

Although very unlikely, just a bit of news for all of us Hammers to debate.
