West Ham’s Top FIVE Christmas Grinches

|

Despite this being a wonderful time of year there are a few people who will forever remain off anyone associated with West Ham’s Christmas card list.

5.  Frank Lampard-  The best group of supporters in the world and yet Fat Frank still has the nerve to think that pastures anew will be more suitable.  Being one of West Ham’s famed products of the youth academy, he shunned the club to move across town to another bitter enemy.  Possessing enormous potential at an young age, the midfielder would go on to gain enormous fame and weight at Chelsea FC.

4.  Avram Grant-  The manager was not the only factor in West Ham’s recent relegation from the top flight, but it has to be said that such dismal displays of football cannot be easily forgotten.  No passion, no cohesion and seemingly no vision, an awful experience for any Hammer.  Solidified his legendary status in the halls of another enemy.

3.  Chelsea FC-  The working man’s East End versus the posh West End.  The entitled Blues versus the mighty Claret and Blue.  Frank Lampard (Sr. & Jr.) being Judases.  For a club with no history, they sure to like to talk theirs up.  Still, Upton Park can be sold out on a Championship match on a Tuesday night while Stamford Bridge leaves plenty of blue seats during Champions League ties.

2.  Tottenham Hotspur-  The noisy neighbors to the north, they share a reputation not unlike our own.  If it weren’t for their proximity and the dodgy way they conduct their business things might be very different.  As it stands, they continually look to degrade their more storied rivals by stealing our players and attempting to steal potential stadiums.  The latest spy scandal with Karen Brady’s phone taps typifies the club.

1.  Millwall FC-  Merely a stone’s throw across the Thames, the nemesis of West Ham United.  A rivalry that transcends the game of football and dates back to workers’ strikes on the ship yards and docks, it has not diminished over the years, even with more infrequent contact.  Violence on and off the pitch, before, during, and after the games is common place.  The most latest incident was during the 2009 Carling Cup tie that West Ham won 3-1.  Currently, the clubs shared the spoils as West Ham traveled to the Den earlier this season.  The return fixture shall be much anticipated and hotly contested.  This is simply football’s greatest rivalry and arguably the greatest rivalry in all of sport.  Words are insufficient to describe the depth of feeling between the two clubs.
