Ignore the moment of the madness

|

Saturday. Losing 2-0 to Reading. West Ham’s miserable afternoon was turned from bad to worse after the team was reduced to 9 men, with Jack Collison the man sent off.

The referee had no alternative in giving Collison his marching orders after a very poor challenge. Reading midfielder Jimmy Kebe was showboating in the West Ham half, he stood still and rolled up his socks while in possession of the ball.

Kebe’s actions were taunting of the highest order. I, like the West Ham players was annoyed at Kebe for what he did. Even though I can understand why Collison made the challenge; it is still not justification for what he did.

As a result of Collison’s foul, Reading scored from the free-kick to make it 3-0.

I still believe Collison could be a future Hammers star. He is still only 23 years old and is yet to reach his peak. Collison will only reach his peak when he starts playing regularly.

Collison has the attributes to become a top player. He is versatile, having played out wide and in the middle of midfield. He is a good dribbler and has good energy around the pitch.

His progress was hampered last season where he was ruled out for most of the season with a knee injury. He only played three league games for the Hammers.

Ever since then Collison has struggled to recapture the form he had when he broke into the first team under Alan Curbishley and Gianfranco Zola.

Collison lost his head on Saturday but if he starts playing consistently and gets his form back, he will be a key player for the rest of the season.

In one sentence you say you can understand why he(JC) made the challenge, but then say it is unjustifiable…???

He may have a future at West Ham, but he has struggled to progress in recent years, the second half of the season is crucial for him, because promotion will put his place under threat.

    C’mon Jack, C’mon U Irons!

Hi mate what I meant was I can understand why Collison and the other West Ham players were annoyed at Kebe, but he still shouldn’t have made the challenge he did.
