All I want for Christmas is…

|

West Ham United are, at the time of writing this article, sitting second in the Championship, two points off leaders Southampton and six points clear of Cardiff.  With a healthy goal difference of +20, things appear to be shaping up quite nicely at Upton Park this season.  At my house, the tree is up and lit, the fire is going, and Christmas music is playing.  It looks to be the start of a very happy holiday.  In the festive spirit, I should probably ask Santa (yes, at 23 I’m not above asking Santa for something, especially since my friends and family are feeling particularly Scrooge-like) for what I truly want (and most certainly deserve) this year. Normally, my list would go something like this:

  • A good bottle of Jameson
  • A new pair of football boots (ADIDAS, please)
  • Maybe a new kit
  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • A second bottle of Jameson

However, I have been recently informed that while Santa is great with the material gifts (he has an army of midget slaves, after all), I had better consult Saint Jude (patron saint of lost causes) for the heavier stuff.  With that in mind, I have revised my list for this year. So, to Santa, St. Jude, and all other relevant football Gods, I have been better this year than I was last year (not unlike a certain team of mine).  Here is what I would like for Christmas:

  • West Ham’s momentum continues with a dismantling of Burnley and lasts longer still through the winter months, further separating us from the rest of the pack.
  • Transfers are made in January that involve a quality centre back and maybe a select few promising players.
  • The players currently injured get back to fitness sooner than expected.
  • Southampton drops points.
  • TWO bottles of Jameson

If something on the list is not possible this year, I suppose I will settle for some underwear and socks. Thanks.

Wishing you and yours the very best this Christmas,

Cheers.
