Big Sam risks Infuriating fans, after shocker

|

Upton Park felt a lonely place to be last night after a terrible home performance and what felt like a defeat after a goalless draw with relegation threatened Bristol City.

With a few changes from the side that beat Leicester City at the weekend, the Hammers started brightly without making many chances, Freddie Piquionne and Sam Baldock struggling to rekindle the partnership from Saturday that looked so deadly at times.

Once again Kevin Nolan was awful in the midfield; unable to put a three-foot pass together; the captain needs to start showing his class in the heart of the side.

Bristol City made it tough to break them down, sitting nine men behind the ball and trying to break on the counter attack with summer Hammers target Nicky Maynard, looking a threat up front. David James made a few good saves but he was not troubled enough and with Piquionne and Carlton Cole leading the line for the final ten minutes, he was in no danger of relinquishing a clean sheet.

Freddie Sears has proven in the past three years that he is not good enough to play at Championship level, probably not even a League One player but yet Sam Allardyce picks him in his side; Allardyce was heavily booed by Hammers fans for bringing Sam Baldock off midway through the second half and the reaction was similar at full time.

Listening to a particular radio show on the way home Allardyce said: “I thought that the performance was excellent tonight and if the West Ham fans are going home unhappy I don’t know what they want.” He continued, “I don’t really think the fans reaction is worth talking about, if they knew better than me then they would be the manager.”

Arrogant and unjust comments that I am sure will infuriate Hammers fan that were at the game. However, I don’t want to overreact at a 0-0 draw but it has to be better to keep in front of the chasing pack with regards to promotion.

Looking forward to two tough away games that will show the strength in depth of the squad, last night was one to forget and that is exactly what we should do. The long trip to Hull will be a big challenge next week and then an international break could be what the side needs to get back some injured stars.

Totally agree, I went to game and although we dominated possession we was tame, play like that against a top ten side & we will get beaten
