Scott Parker, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and the ‘boo boys’

|

parker2I wouldn’t say I booed Scott Parker on Monday night over Upton Park but I can safely say I 100% didn’t welcome him back with open arms or clap him when he went off.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

I think fans who decided to boo Parker were fully in their rights to do so. Yes he gave his all while at West Ham and won Hammer of the Year three times but if we are being honest there wasn’t much competition for him. At the end of the day though he decided to leave West Ham, a club that meant the world to him, and join one of their biggest rivals Tottenham Hotspur. If he ‘loved the club’ that much he would have stayed at West Ham to help us get promoted. He wanted that move to Tottenham and didn’t come out and say otherwise. I feel he wanted to move to Tottenham a long time before the end of the season as well.

I remember being in the pub watching Tottenham vs Chelsea and the camera zoomed in on two people in the stand. These two people were Scott Parker and Jamie Redknapp. Obviously at this moment in time Redknapp’s father was the manager of Tottenham. This could have been innocent as Parker is supposed to be a Tottenham fan but I just think it was too much of a coincidence that he was there with the son of the Tottenham manager.

Don’t get me wrong I would never have a go at anybody who decided to clap Parker whenever he returns for West Ham because I know that he did always give 100% while he was at West Ham and if we had more players like him in the side we might have stayed in the Premier League.

I just feel that all fans are allowed to their opinion and both opinions about Parker are correct. I saw somebody say that West Ham fans always seem to boo players that come back to play at Upton Park for another club but if that club is Tottenham I can fully understand why people would want to boo that player. Then on the other it was Scott Parker who did his best for West Ham and I can also understand why people would welcome back with open arms and clap him.

I am now going to give my opinion and if I am being honest I hate the fact that he left our club to join Tottenham when I am pretty sure that he knew how much many of the West Ham fans would hate him for doing this and he never really tried to get a move to another club. Look I loved him while he was at West Ham and the heart he showed was unreal but the moment I saw him in that Tottenham top all the feelings just seemed to vanish and I don’t think any West Ham can blame me for that. Although saying this I didn’t boo him but it made me feel extremely angry to see him in a Tottenham shirt playing at Upton Park and I just can’t help that.

Another hilarious article by a bubble blowing fool.
This one sided “rivalry” is a joke.
Ok fair enough we hail from the same city, But thats it.
Spurs view west ham like they view qpr and fulham. Like they would view charlton or crystal palace if they where in the prem.

Spurs london rivals are arsenal and chelsea, and if u look at the table, it should be clear why.
West ham come along twice a year and its a cup final for them, But a game against another also ran for spurs

    • Hibs Hammer says:

At the moment Cartel but… lose Gareth Bale and we will be on more or less the same level. Arsenal and Chelsea are so far above us and next season I expect them to be on another level to the Spuds.

      • cartel says:

Are u bang on the crack pipe????

Do I have to go through the 2 squads and point out the stratospheric difference?
You have to be having a laugh.

Cartel – thanks you for highlighting the very reason why West Ham fans hate Tottenham fans so much. Inception of football rivalry tends to be at school/work/where you live, therefore depending on where you are brought up as a kid would depend upon who’s fans you knocked about with. Yes, both clubs are from London, but 8 million people live here.. it’s a big old place. I lived in South Woodford (North East London) as a kid – my group of mates were (very roughly) 50% West Ham, 40% Tottenham, 5% Arsenal, 5% other. Therefore the most horrible days at school were when Tottenham inevitably beat us! As I have got older, those “mates” have gradually slipped by the wayside apart from the odd doughnut who pops up on Facebook/twitter to show a lack of humility as they did all those years ago. On the odd (very odd as it happens)occasion when we do win they crawl beneath their rock. For a group of fans who seem not to care about us they do tend to have a lot to say for themselves when it come to West Ham. As for Parker I clapped him off on Monday night – my choice, not everyone shared my approval clearly – i’ve had a season ticket for 20 years and think i’m entitled to give a bit of credit to whoever i choose. Also, me and my mates were waxing lyrical about Bale after the game too – class act. So, I don’t really have a beef with Tottenham, the club or the players – it’s their “fans” that I have a problem with… I’ve met quite a few over the years and (when it comes to footy)the majority of them are pillocks.

So eloquently and succinctly put my friend. Theyve has a few decent seasons after decades of under achieving, and now, like Chelski, dont wish to associate with the little commoners anymore !! Priceless.

Success is cyclical and every dog will have its day. I dont suppose the Nottingham Forest fans ever thought they would be in the position they are now, whilst watching them lift the European Cup twice !!

One day, Abramovich will tire of his little hobby and Chelsea will go back to where they once were and Tottenham will do the same. Crow whilst you can chaps, it wont last for ever !

I honestly can’t understand the mentality of anyone who is a West Ham fan booing Scott Parker.
he was easily our best player whie at Upton Park, gave everything for the club, and so what if the rest of the team weren’t in the same league?

He did all he could do and gave a lot more than some of our current players do. It’s unfortunately typical of too many West Ham ‘fans’ that they are so fickle, and have such short memories. I’m sure many of the people booing him are the same people that slag off Kevin Nolan, another player who has carried us single-handedly in so many games. Just because he hasn’t scored for a while – people need to remember he’s a midfielder, and he’s scored a lot more goals than some centre-forwards I could mention.
Time for a little reflection and fairness Hammers fans….

    • HammerHead says:

Kevin Nolan singled-handedly carrying us in so many games, are you having a laugh, the only thing he is carrying is about 20 pounds of extra weight. He is slow and offers the team very little help in tracking back and unless the ball is to his feet we have lost possession. If anything Noble has carried him in games doing two peoples work. You only have to look at the Millwall game last year to see that. If any other player other than Nolan was sent off we would have lost. I am looking forward to Nolan being out as may be BFS will change the formation of give somebody else a chance. I slag Nolan off but for the record did not boo Parker on Monday night as I thought he was fantastic for us and a player with that is that good and at the time in the England Squad and player of the year should not be playing in the Championship.

    • Spence55 says:

NOLAN !!!!! Jesus Christ mate just what are you watching…he is HOPELESS and has left us playing with 10 men for most of the season. Any other manager would have done the decent thing and left him out of the squad, let alone the team. I despair !

Parker is history, full stop, I have no feelings for him whatsoever so I dont cheer or boo.. he is no longer important to me or West Ham. Noble, Collison, Jarvis, CIOle, Tomkins..they mean something.

  • strange for a second rate team who other teams ignore how many rival supporters turn up on hammers websites hahaha

    • Sam says:

The reason “many rival supporters turn up on a hammers webstie” is because the Tottenham website has a news section that draws in articles from across the web that reference Tottenham related phrases… is this instance, “Tottenham” and “Scott Parker”.

Boom. There’s you’re answer. And it still means you’re second rate.

      • The Cat says:

Spuds have always been big time charlies whose fortunes change like the wind.
Remember what you said because in the not too distant future you will be dining on those words!

Come back spouting your nonsense when you “Actually” achieve relative success!

  • Chim Chim Cher woo says:

Spuds our rivals you must be joking.they are the school prefects that no one likes and everyone slaps about.then when they leave and join the old bill, they are hated even more and get slapped about even more.always will be big time charlies and a suburban club like theyre real neighbours Watford and Luton.

  • cartel says:

When we lose bale blah blah blah.
Same was said only last summer when modric went to madrid.
    And whats happened??
    We sit 3rd,
    5 points off 2nd place.
West ham fans need to pull their heads out of their arses.
Spurs are pushing for 2nd or 3rd in the prem.
West ham are in trouble and you will do well to stay up.

  • cartel says:

“Cartel – thanks you for highlighting the very reason why West Ham fans hate Tottenham fans so much”

The reason is this: spurs dont view west ham like west ham view us.
When you look at us you feel this imagined rivally and hatred.
When spurs look at west ham we feel indifference…thats it.
    Just indifference.
You are zero threat to us.
And its that indifference that infuriates west ham fans.
    Its bizarre really

    • Chim Chim Cher woo says:

Do you not understand english.tottenham will never be westhams rivals, you don’t get it fellow it’s not tottenham as a club we dislike,it’s your supporters who are the biggest bunch of Pillocks and ponces going.Westham are not the only ones who feel this way, everyone else in this country and by recent events in Europe also feel this way.If I was you buy a mirror and take a long hard look at it

      • cartel says:

What an absolute bell end you are.
So other fans feel like this?
So sunderland, fulham, everton, swansea fans etc etc have a ridiculous obsesesion with spurs or spurs fans? Erm….no!
Its only west hams pikey faithful who refuse to accept there is no big “rivalry” between spurs and west ham.
Your true rivals are millwall But in their absence you try latch on to us, while we continualy fuck you off!!!!
And what are you on about ref. Europe you silly boy.
The incidents with Lyon and lazio where about right wing neo nazi elements
        Not spurs fans.

roll on the end of the season,
The next best thing to us getting top 4 (again)
Is seeing you mugs packed off to the championship (again)

      • Phil the iron says:

Here! Here! Couldn’t agree more! The way they are going on you’d think they had just won the champs league for the 6th time running! (Never gonna happen!). Someone should tell them the correct way to act is to celebrate AFTER you have won something! Then again they’ve been deluding themselves they’re a BIG club for years! Only thing sicker than spuds is giving them oxygen of publicity! Why are we even mentioning them?! We are West Ham! Nuff said! COYI!

    • Andy says:

      Spurs fans are all cunts!

  • NellyWelly11 says:

I’m a hammers fan, and I was pretty surprised he was booed off by so many. Yeah you get the few here and there that like to just boo at anybody that they feel did wrong by them. Not one person has mentioned that a massive part in his leaving was down to International football. He had broke into the England squad and getting a starting XI spot. He was obviously never going to drop to the Chanpionship and risk his place with the Euros coming up in the summer. Yes he went to one of our rivals but at the end of the day the only other offer that was seriously batting about was a loan to Chelsea for a year which was back up to Mikel while Essien was injured. Can the majority of the people that booed him honestly say they would of done different in his shoes?

  • Cooper 'X' says:

Scott Parker was booed for the simple reason he left us at horrible time. Mark noble stayed. West ham fans are loyal and so passionate. I’m regularly on twitter and west ham fans go crazy all week and before games. I rarely aee Tottenham arsenal, man utd fans do the same. It’s not a cup final for us it’s an accomplishment to beat a side like Tottenham who are in form. Tottenham are a good side but will never be there. You ask yourself the question of where is Modric? Bale is at your club for this season and that’s it. Scott Parker was booed because he jumped ship when ours was sinking.

  • Anne says:

Very sad .. You are saying Noble means something yet on Tweeter fans are running him down, as they are Tomkins who is far superior to Collins,He is one of the worst for lobbing the ball down the pitch whereas Tomkins brings the ball down and can run with it. Nolan does look over weight and tired and l believe he is not that good. We had a few great games last year when he was out injured And as for the booing of Parker l think it was pretty poor of them after what he did at the club.Just think IF YOU WERE OFFERED A BETTER JOB WITH MORE MONEY WOULD YOU TURN IT DOWN?? NO.. YOU WOULDN’T AND LETS FACE IT THIS IS THEIR JOB,IT IS NOT THE BE ALL AND END ALL.

  • Yidooooooooo says:

No one wanted noble you fucking pikie cunts.hes just a shit Scott Parker

  • Phil the iron says:

Scotty Parker blah, blah, blah! At the end of the day who cares! He’s not west ham anymore so who, cares if he gets booed!? Went to spuds as well and who cares about them either!? Sick of them and even sicker of them posting on our websites! Get a life! We couldn’t care less what spuds are up to anymore than we care about any other team! We are West Ham! COYI!

  • Phil the iron says:

Scott Parker! Left West Ham joined spuds! Fuck him!

  • Grayster says:

Quick answer to your question: no they fucking weren’t. I just hate the fucking hypocrisy. Joe Cole fucked off to Chelsea who are a total bunch of cunts. Unlike Parker he was made by us and didn’t show loyalty. Why? cos like parker he put his career before the club. 15,000 plus irons never booed him off. We fucking applauded him when he came down with the scousers and he even scored against us. The booing was embarrassing. Most neutrals now just think we’re a bunch of cunts with very short memories. If you don’t like him at spuds then just don’t applaud. We’re so much better than this. But then the boo boys have been getting louder and louder over the last three seasons. Fuck off you negative cunts to the bridge.
