West Ham have had a total of five first-team players depart this summer, as well as the two loanees Carlos Soler and Evan Ferguson making a return to their parent clubs.

West Ham may not be done with departures this summer, though, with the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio also expected to leave.

Another man who is set to leave east London is Nayef Aguerd, who spent last season on loan at Spanish club Real Sociedad.

The Moroccan enjoyed a solid campaign for the side that finished 11th in La Liga, making 36 appearances in all competitions and ranking as the club’s best performer, according to Sofascore.

talkSPORT reported in May that the 29-year-old has demanded a move away this summer, with Real Sociedad a likely destination for the defender.

Sociedad return unlikely for Aguerd

Aguerd’s hopes of a move back to Sociedad might now be looking unlikely after Fabrizio Romano’s update that the club has agreed a deal for Brighton centre-back Igor Julio.

With the Brazilian two years younger than Aguerd and also a left-footed centre-back, a return to the Basque club now looks doubtful for the Moroccan.

West Ham are understood to have rejected a swap deal offer from Italian giants Juventus for Aguerd, which would involve centre-back Daniele Rugani make the move to the East London.

The Hammers are reportedly keen to sell the player for a sum of around £20million, with cash necessary to allow for reinvestment in new signings.

Aguerd joined West Ham from Stade Rennais for a fee of €35million in 2022, meaning the club would be losing money on the defender, but with the 29-year-old keen on a move away, it would feel like good business for the Hammers should they offload the player for that price.
