West Ham have had some positive injury news in recent weeks, seeing the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo and Jarrod Bowen return to the squad after weeks of absence and having an instant impact on the team.

This week, Graham Potter has received another injury boost as Niclas Fullkrug was spotted training with the first team.

The German has been out of action since 10 January, when he picked up a hamstring injury against Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round.

Fullkrug’s season has been heavily disrupted by injury since joining the Hammers in the summer, with the striker starting just three league games all season, making his £27 million acquisition last summer a major disappointment.

With both Fullkrug and Michail Antonio out with injury in the early stages of Potter’s tenure at the club, the manager took action in the January transfer window by signing Brighton’s Evan Ferguson on loan, meaning the 32-year-old will have some competition when back fit.

Potter hasn’t announced a return date for Fullkrug, but the fact he is back in training would suggest he could be back in the squad soon, which will be a pleasing sight for Hammers fans who have seen a squad struggling for depth this campaign.

Other injury news

Along with Fullkrug, West Ham were also without Vladimir Coufal (thigh), Lucas Paqueta (ankle), Crysencio Summerville (hamstring) and Michail Antonio (car accident) for their 2-0 victory over Leicester last week.

Ahead of the game, Potter revealed he was hopeful Coufal would be available for West Ham’s clash against Newcastle next Monday.

West Ham Zone have revealed that Paqueta’s injury status is very much touch and go and his return might not be too far off, however the Newcastle game might come too early for the Brazilian.

The return dates for Antonio and Summerville are still unknown, however Summerville has teased Hammers fans with a recent video on Instagram which shows the 23-year-old undertaking some individual training, captioned ‘“ RESET, RESTART, REFOCUS. ” LOADING⚡️⏳’.

West Ham will be looking to replicate their win over the Magpies earlier on in the season, which would make it three wins in a row for Graham Potter, and the Hammers’ chances will certainly be helped if the squad is strengthened with some returning players from injury.
