West Ham were without six senior first team players due to injury in their game against Chelsea last Monday.

Amongst this list were Lucas Paqueta (groin), Jean-Clair Todibo (unknown), Edson Alvarez (back), Crysencio Summerville (hamstring), Michail Antonio (broken leg) and Niclas Fullkrug (hamstring).

Paqueta and Alvarez both picked up minor injuries in West Ham’s draw to Aston Villa on 26 January and were subsequently kept out of the Hammers’ trip to Stamford Bridge, while Todibo hasn’t featured since West Ham’s defeat to Manchester City on January 4.

Fullkrug and Antonio are the only two out with long-term injuries, and the pair have been reported to be undertaking rehab out in Dubai, with an image circulating on X last week of Fullkrug pictured in a West Ham training kit in Dubai.

Summerville picked up a hamstring injury in West Ham’s FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa on 10 January and was being assessed before the Hammers’ game against Crystal Palace on 18 January, however since then, the Dutchman hasn’t joined the squad with Potter providing no more updates on his fitness, which would suggest a return to action isn’t close for the 23-year-old.

Three back in training for the Hammers

In more positive injury news for the Hammers, Paqueta, Alvarez and Todibo have all returned to training, according to London Evening Standard.

Images of Paqueta, Todibo and Alvarez have circulated on X in West Ham’s new training kit, exciting many of the Hammers fans.

The return of Paqueta and Todibo in particular will be a major boost for Graham Potter, with Paqueta playing brilliantly since Potter’s arrival last month, and with the lack of options at the back, Todibo’s return is also a very welcome sight.

There’s been no confirmation yet whether any of the three players are available to play in West Ham’s game against Brentford on Saturday, but the fact they’re back in training is a step in the right direction.

The positive injury news for the Hammers coincides with January signing Evan Ferguson and returning loanee James Ward-Prowse joining up with the squad last week, which means Potter could potentially have up to five additional players to choose from for the visit of Brentford on Saturday.
