According to West Ham insider Sean Whetstone, the Hammers are now desperately trying to find a solution to failed Kurt Zouma exit.

West Ham United have been one of the most active clubs in the Premier League during this summer transfer window and new manager Julen Lopetegui has been fully backed ahead of the new season.

Wes Foderingham, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville, Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman have all committed their futures to the Hammers and will be part of the ambitious project in East London next season.

Lopetegui has pressure on his shoulders to deliver the refresh that the supporters have been crying out for, with of expectations a new perspective on a more effective style of play.

As a result, it was important for the Hammers hierarchy to reinvest and give the Spanish manager the tools he would need to transform the fortunes of the club, alongside the plethora of talent they already possess.

West Ham’s business has, however, not just been exclusive to incomings, as outgoings are actively being prioritised too with an ongoing situation to move on club captain Kurt Zouma this summer.

It had been reported by The Times that the centre-back’s move to Shabab Al-Ahli has fallen through due to complications in a failed medical, however, Hammers insider Sean Whetstone has begged to differ.

In an X post today he revealed on his West Ham Football account:

“Reports that Kurt Zouma has returned to the UK after his medical are inaccurate, the West Ham centre back remains in UAE and talks are ongoing with Shabab Al-Ahli and it is hoped a compromise can still be reached.”

Should Kurt Zouma leave this summer?

It is clear that Zouma is not in the plans of Lopetegui and would struggle to get game time with new defender signings already signed, sealed and delivered at the London Stadium.

After signing Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo it makes perfect sense for the club, financially, to offload the 29-year-old, so there will likely be further efforts to find a solution to his exit.

Indeed, Zouma has been an impactful defender during his time in East London but his increasing lack of availability has clearly raised concerns that has led to his replacement in Todibo.

With that being said, it is unlikely that this will be the last we hear on Zouma’s ongoing exit from West Ham and the club will be hoping to reach a quick resolution so that focus can return to the upcoming season.
