According to EXWHUEmployee, West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka iin a last-minute loan deal.
The Hammers have been one of the most active Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window and are showing no signs of slowing down in the final hours of Deadline Day.
Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed this morning that West Ham have completed a loan deal to sign Carlos Soler from Paris Saint Germain, while James Ward-Prowse has completed a move away from the club to join Nottingham Forest.
Julen Lopetegui has huge ambitions to breathe new life into the Irons with Jean Clair-Todibo, Max Kilman, Niclas Fullkrug, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Crysencio Summerville just a handful of the exciting talent to join the East London outfit in the past few months.
Although only a few hours remain to get deals done, there is still a chance the Irons could now bring in another young talent who is otherwise being overlooked at his current club.
EXWHUemployee has revealed on his Patreon this afternoon that the club are now exploring a deal to sign Carney Chukwuemeka on a loan deal.
Taking to X following his report, the trusted West Ham source claimed:
“Player not certain to sign however if we get Soler. Just an alternative options for now and depends on player departures.”
Should West Ham sign Carney Chukwuemeka?
There is no doubt that the Chelsea youngster would add some great depth to the midfield personnel at West Ham this season, even if the Carlos Soler deal is fully completed in time too.
On the Blue side of the capital, they were reported to have a £40m release clause in place to part ways with their promising prospect this summer, but with no solid offers presenting themselves, it seems that a loan deal could also be beneficial, and mutually so for West Ham.
It hasn’t been an easy ride to get minutes on the pitch for Chukwuemeka since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa, nevertheless, he has shown he has the capability of making an impact from the bench on the occasions he has been selected.
Over nine Premier League appearances last season, the 20-year-old Englishman scored one goal and registered one assist despite only averaging 25 minutes per appearance.
Former Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino hailed Chukwuemeka as “very talented” last season and gave a small insight into his best positions on the pitch:
“He’s a player that can play in-between No.10 and No.8,”
“He’s a very talented player, very good quality. In our dynamic, he can use different spaces on the pitch.”
Given his little game time recently, the signing would likely be made based on the sheer amount of potential that the young player possesses and if he can gain more consistency in performances on the East side of London this season, it could be an ample opportunity to not only raise his profile as a first team player, but become a project worth investing in for West Ham.
