According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are now in “direct talks” with Carlos Soler’s representatives to complete signing.
West Ham have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window and surprisingly are still not finished building new manager Julen Lopetegui a worthy squad of players.
Wes Foderingham, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Max Kilman, Guido Rodriguez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jean-Clair Todibo and Crysencio Summerville make up the group of fresh faces already committed to taking the Hammers to the next level this season and beyond.
A defeat at the London Stadium last weekend against Aston Villa will likely be used as a learning curve for Lopetegui, who would have been keen to see where his team is weakened so that he could better navigate the final few days of the summer transfer window.
With that in mind, it looks like the Irons remain keen to complete a deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler, with Fabrizio Romano taking to X last night to confirm that the club is in direct communication with the player’s representatives.
Romano tweeted:
“West Ham already made initial contact to explore deal for Carlos Soler as new midfielder.”
“Direct talks to follow in the next days with player’s camp while West Ham will also work on exits/outgoings as priority.”
Will West Ham make any further signings?
There is no doubt that the Hammers have invested well this summer and if they do complete the signing of Soler in the remaining days of the transfer window it would give them some great, experienced depth in the centre of the pitch.
Jhon Duran is one player who has been consistently linked to a move to the London Stadium for the entire summer, though those reports seemingly died down once Fullkrug was announced.
It remains to be seen as to whether Lopetegui and the hierarchy will target any further incomings after Soler, as it seems to be that the East London outfit is also working on pushing through outgoings as a priority.
It has been reported that Tim Steidten is in communication with Monaco about a potential deal to send them Nayef Aguerd before the transfer market closes next week, although it is noted that this would not be his only option as many clubs in Europe are interested in the 28-year-old.
Should a deal be struck quickly to offload Aguerd before the week’s end, Steidten may have one more trick up his sleeve following the acquisition of Soler.
With that being said, the Hammers will be one of the few Premier League clubs worth keeping an eye on right up until the deadline as they are clearly on an ambitious mission to embrace their new chapter under the guidance of Lopetegui.
