According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, West Ham United have reached a full agreement to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

The Hammers have had a busy summer so far with the arrivals of Wes Foderingham, Luis Guilherme and Max Kilman, but it looks like Julen Lopetegui is keen to add even more talent to his squad before the transfer window closes.

The Spanish manager will be tasked with the difficult challenge of leading West Ham back to a European qualification spot next season, after they failed with a ninth place finish and Europa League knockout under David Moyes.

The Hammers’ hierarchy has been working overtime this week if the media are to be believed as reports have surfaced that they are working on a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug and the East London outfit continues to be strongly linked with Manchester United right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

But the most reliable story of the evening came from ExWHUEmployee who took to his exclusive Patreon channel to reveal that West Ham had agreed a deal and booked a medical to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Ex revealed this afternoon:

“An undisclosed fee has now been agreed with Leeds and personal terms complete for Summerville,” stated Ex on Patreon. “A medical has been booked and he stands a chance of being involved in West Ham’s fixture on Saturday.”

This was then confirmed in the mainstream media by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein on X:

“West Ham United reach total agreement with Leeds United to sign Crysencio Summerville. Personal terms in place for Dutchman on 5yr contract. Plan is 22yo #LUFC forward undergoes medical before flying to join #WHUFC on USA pre-season tour @TheAthleticFC”

What next for West Ham in the transfer window?

The signing of Summerville is a fantastic acquisition for the Irons, especially with the future of Lucas Paqueta up in the air at the moment, adding crucial depth to their attacking threat.

Bringing in a player with a good amount of Premier League experience is massively advantageous too, something they are clearly looking for based on the fact they are also extremely keen to sign Wan-Bissaka from Man United too.

The potential signing of Niclas Fullkrug is another one for West Ham fans to keep a close eye on, as it would be the cherry on top of their ambitions to strengthen the forward line.

Indeed, the 31 year old Euro 2024 star does not present a long term replacement for Michail Antonio, but he does bring a fresh perspective to the centre forward role, one that will be desperately needed next season if West Ham are going to challenge the likes of Newcastle United for European qualification.

With that being said, it could be an extremely exciting few days ahead for fans of the East London club and they will be hoping that enough has been done to improve their performances when the Premier League returns next month.
