According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are now “closing in on a deal” for Brazilian talent Luis Guilherme and negotiations are at the final stages.
West Ham will be looking to strengthen their squad as they enter a new chapter in East London with Julen Lopetegui, following an underwhelming campaign under David Moyes last season.
The Hammers finished ninth in the Premier League table and after crashing out of the Europa League, have not qualified for European football for next season which was massively disappointing for the supporters.
Now Lopetegui will have the opportunity to get the fans back onside by bringing a fresh perspective to the football played at the London Stadium and adding some new talent to the squad would help the Spaniard to achieve his goals.
Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed this evening that West Ham are “closing in on a deal” to sign Brazilian wonderkid Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.
Romano exclusively revealed on X:
“🚨⚒️ EXCL: West Ham are closing in on deal to sign Brazilian talent Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras!”
“Exclusive details of the official bid submitted: €30m fixed fee plus 20% sell-on clause.”
“Negotiations at the final stages, here we go expected soon.”
Who is Luis Guilherme?
There is no doubt that Guilherme is an exciting talent after rising through the ranks of the academy at Palmeiras and breaking into the first team in 2023.
As per FBref, the left-footed 18-year-old ranks in the top 10% of his positional peers in the Men’s Next 14 leagues for shot-creating actions, progressive carries and successful take-ons.
Branded the ‘new Ronaldinho’, the youngster has a lot of expectation to live up to as he has constantly been linked with a move to the English top flight, with Liverpool and Manchester United also named as potential suitors in the past.
Paqueta’s uncertain future with the Hammers due to an ongoing investigation into betting breaches, means that there could be an opportunity to introduce another flair-filled attacking player into the fold, so the deal could not come at a better time for the Irons.
With that being said, it will be interesting to see what Guilherme can bring to the Premier League and what role he is given in Lopetegui’s West Ham side in the future.
