West Ham are one of a number of clubs who are believed to be in the mix to sign Brest attacker Karamoko Dembele, according to a fresh transfer rumour.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at League One side Blackpool and he is enjoying a superb season there to date, registering 10 assists in the competition and also chipping in with six goals. They have come in just 23 starts, with 32 league appearances coming his way in total.
It appears as though Dembele may not be wanted by French side Brest moving forward, considering they decided to loan him out last summer, but he is contracted there until the summer of 2026, meaning he won’t necessarily leave on the cheap.
According to a new transfer update from HITC, West Ham are keen on acquiring the young attacking midfielder’s signature at the end of the season, but are joined by other Premier League teams in the race to sign him:
“Everton, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are just three of the Premier League clubs looking to sign one-time Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele this summer following an impressive loan spell at Blackpool.
“HITC Football understands that a player who set social media alight a couple of seasons ago – dancing through defenders far older than him as a 13-year-old playing for Celtic’s under-20 side – could belatedly be about to take one big step towards fulfilling his potential this summer.”
Established, experienced players are needed for West Ham this summer, especially if key men such as Lucas Paqueta leave, but it is also vital to plan for the future and bring in young prospects with high ceilings.
Dembele would fall into that bracket, with so much still to come from him in his career, and his performances for Blackpool highlight the attacking output he is capable of.
Granted, he has only been playing in the third tier of English football, and the step up to the Premier League is huge, but he has time on his side and should only develop further.
Dembele has been capped for both England and Scotland at various youth team ages, jumping between the two – he won 11 caps and scored three time for the Three Lions’ Under-16s – showing how highly-rated he has been for some time.
