West Ham United are eyeing a January swoop for Club Brugge forward Noa Lang.
What’s the word?
That is according to Claret and Hugh, who have relayed a report from CalcioMercato, claiming that the 23-year-old is not short of interest as we venture ever closer to the January transfer window.
West Ham feature among the teams who are said to be interested, with the likes of AC Milan and Atletico Madrid also thought to be in for the Ajax graduate.
In the report, no fee is mentioned, though the 5-cap Netherlands international is valued at £17.1million, as per Transfermarkt.
Moyes will love him
Having garnered 19 attacking returns last season for Club Brugge in the form of seven goals and 12 assists, it’s clear that Lang is a forward who knows how to navigate the ball in the final third.
Currently one of the creative young assets in the European landscape, he could help West Ham to solve a problem that they have drastically suffered with this season; chance creation,
Having scored just five goals from eight Premier League games, the Hammers’ biggest issue has been chance creation, where there has been a massive lack of, with the side conjuring up just four big chances this season.
Lang created 19 big chances last season for Brugge, as well as a staggering 70 chances overall in the Belgian top flight.
That would place him at the very top of the Hammers squad for both of these respective metrics, with Pablo Fornals coming closest to that total with 48 chances created in the Premier League last season.
The signing of Lang would bolster the Hammers to no end, with his ability to create chances from nothing certain to inspire summer signings Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca, who could both profit from a burst of energy out-wide.
Moyes will certainly appreciate an asset like Lang who is “ready to shine”, as put by the admins of OnsOranje on Twitter.
