West Ham have been named amongst the potential suitors to sign Celtic defender Jack Hendry, who is currently on loan at Belgian side KV Oostende.

The 25-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a rejuvenating campaign in the Pro League and could be set for a summer switch to the Premier League according to a report from 90min.

As part of the loan deal that saw Hendry join Oostende, there was an option to buy clause installed, that the report states could see the side who sit fourth in the Belgian top-flight sign the Scotsman for less than £2million.

Aware of the interest from England from the Hammers, Aston Villa, Leicester and Newcastle among others who are also said to be keen, the Belgian side hope to make a quick profit on the three-times capped Scottish international, with a £10m figure mooted.

There is also interest from Germany and Holland as Hendry enjoys a meteoric rise this season, averaging 7.09 with Sofascore domestically.

OPINION

West Ham will no doubt be in the market once again for defensive reinforcements as the futures of Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid look to lie away from the London Stadium.

Having tried in vain to land James Tarkowski last summer, with the finances involved the major stumbling block, a more affordable £10m for swoop for Henry would be a far more palatable deal to complete.

Although little is known of Hendry’s ability to cut it at the elite level, having tried his hand in the Europa League this season, that experience could prove invaluable moving forwards.
