Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has tipped West Ham midfield enforcer Tomas Soucek to become one of the Irons’ leading earners at the club.
Speaking to Football Insider, the pundit was keen to heap praise upon the Czech international for his transformative impact at the London Stadium.
Previous reports have claimed that Soucek is in line for a new long-term deal to reward his inspiring form that has seen a strong partnership formed with Declan Rice in the middle of the pitch.
The contract would also intrinsically stave off interest from suitors keen on the Czech bulwark, with Manchester United having been previously linked with a move for Soucek.
Campbell held nothing back in his glowing endorsement of the midfielder:
“Soucek has been phenomenal in the middle of the park with Rice,” he told Football Insider.
“He is so useful in both boxes, he can score goals and defend well. He has been a hero in there with Rice this season.
“He fully deserves a new contract. I do not know whether he will be the top earner but I think he will definitely be one of the top earners. He has definitely outplayed his current contract, that is for sure.”
Opinion
Campbell’s succinct assessment sums up the all-round solidity and stability Soucek offers to David Moyes’ plans.
Moreover, a competitive wage hike coupled with the trust and centrality placed in him should be more than enough to re-affirm Soucek’s loyalty to West Ham.
Consequentially, the benefits of a fresh deal are multi-faceted.
