Thursday 24 March 1988 was a key date in our history; it was the day we signed a player who would become immortalised in the club’s history with 326 appearances and 65 goals in two spells over the next decade.
It is, of course, Julian Dicks, and fellow fans were celebrating the 32nd anniversary of that day by gushing over the legend on Twitter after our official account posted some of his best bits.
Unsurprisingly, the video captured the flare and passion be had for the badge and that wand, or rather hammer, of a left foot that he possessed – especially from the penalty spot.
Will we ever have another left-back like Dicks? Maybe not, he was that once-in-a-generation type of player, wasn’t he?
Everyone here at Forever West Ham would also like to extend our congratulations to Dicks and his partner Lisa who are expecting a new member of their family in August…
“No nonsense”. Wish we could bring that back to the club.

Absolute hero of a hammer. Nothing less than 100% commitment to the cause 100% of the time.

Best LB we ever had. Even better than Lampard. We need to find another like him.
