At only 24, there’s no doubt that Pablo Fornals is a promising star, but will he reach the level of Dimitri Payet in our colours if we stay up and heavily reinvest around him?
That was the question posed by @COYIrons_com last Wednesday evening and it’s prompted a definite answer from loads of fellow West Ham fans – no.
It’s obvious that Payet was on a planet of his own when he played for us, the most talented and probably best all-round player to represent us in modern times.
So why does someone who’s come into the side and is now flourishing in his first Premier League season need to be compared to Payet? Just let him be his own footballer and see where that takes him.
We shouldn’t be putting any pressure on Fornals’ shoulders, just let him find his feet, which he’s doing fantastically at the moment, and bloom to the best of his ability…
No chance
