There was absolute bafflement on social media when the line-up for Wednesday night’s game at Man City was announced, what was Moyes thinking with his latest tactics?
The clear plan was obviously to park the bus with five defenders and three defensive midfielders, but why let one of, if not the best, attacks in the world come onto you like that?
Surely against the might of such an opponent you have to try to throw everything you can at them and hope for the best, you’re probably going to lose heavily anyway at the end of the day.
Whilst the end result was most likely one quite a lot of fans would have taken prior to kick-off, the performance was a tough one to bear; no efforts on target and just 23% possession.
Here’s the pick of the reactive Tweets as supporters showed their bemusement after seeing the team…
No attack whatsoever

Absolute shambles of a team 2 attacking players on the field look at the bench going for a loss already

Antonio is NOT a striker. He’s also our best RW, where he should be today.

Moyes Cleverly lulling Man City in to a false sense of security by not playing any of our best players. ⚒
