On this day every year, West Ham fans everywhere spare a thought for the man who is forever in our hearts, our greatest ever footballing son, Bobby Moore.
On this very day 27 years ago, he tragically passed away from bowel cancer after a courageous battle and fans have been paying tribute to him on social media.
He’s someone that needs no introduction to anyone with the slightest interest in football, the greatest centre-back to grace our planet, 1966, but above all, he was truly a golden person, one of the nicest anyone could hope to meet.
The players should also be thinking about Moore when they take to the pitch at Anfield tonight, donning shirts bearing his name during their warm-up, there can be no greater motivation than making Bobby proud in this desperate time.
