Many West Ham fans on Twitter have been revelling in a club update regarding the injury suffered by Lukasz Fabianski at Sheffield United.
It looked for all the world like the 34-year-old had endured the same injury blow that had kept him out from late September to the turn of the year when he pulled up after taking a goal kick in the unlucky 13th minute last Friday night.
But, the pain the Pole felt is a result of inflammation around the stitches from his recent hip surgery and no aggravation or reoccurrence of the injury according to the club – he should only be out of action for a couple of weeks.
The news, whilst very positive, comes with the looming shadow of having to trust either David Martin or Roberto with the gloves until Fabianski’s return presuming the Darren Randolph move is off, a far from ideal choice.
However, here’s the pick of the delighted Tweets from gleaming supporters…

Great news but don’t rush him back & injure him long term!
Maybe let someone else take his goal kicks as well for a few games?— Ricky Forrest (@rickwhufc) January 13, 2020
THANK GOD!

Happy days! Can we buy a midfielder now? No? Ok. Can someone else take the goal kicks for a while when he’s back
