Supporters on Twitter have been reacting to an update from ExWHUemployee on the future of Andriy Yarmolenko and the mood isn’t good.
Ex revealed last Tuesday evening that the club are considering offers for the 30-year-old due to his wages and him not fitting into David Moyes’ system, after talk of a possible exit.
Yarmolenko has been a forgotten figure of late, struggling with injury and only managing 45 minutes of football since the beginning of December.
However, the 86-cap Ukraine international started the season with a bang, netting three goals in his first six games, a reminder of his Premier League quality and one of the reasons fans are so horrified about the idea of him leaving this month.
Another is how threadbare the squad is looking ahead of the run-in and how little time there would be to find a replacement.
You can see the pick of the understandably disgruntled comments, below…
The second highest goalscorer in the national Ukrainian football team and doesn’t fit?
When fit, he is the only real poacher we have.
Needs to sign someone to play with Haller. Can we get Hernandez back please? pic.twitter.com/XULuNxLIbV

Are we just going to keep selling and not worry about the fact our squad is seriously lacking in a number of positions?!

Sell Yarmolenko? That says it all really! I thought we weren’t going to sell our best players anymore?

Great idea. Weaken the squad even further

We couldn’t use him as a backup striker for the remainder of the season?!
This is going to play out similar to the Andre Ayew sale in January 2018. We’ll sell him on the second to the last day of the window at the same price as what we paid for him without a replacement.

Not a player to get rid of now, we are short of numbers. Its mid january, and doubt we would get a replacement in that was better. Unless of course the board just want to save on wages.

We will have no players left at this rate, no strikers to compete with Haller, no out and out wide men, lack of RWB and CM options. Stay up by the skin of our teeth hopefully. Villa have more depth 😂

Moyes doesn’t fit in my system 😡
