This is what West Ham fans have been begging for for weeks. After setting the Premier League 2 on fire so far this season, Nathan Holland has been banging down the door of the first team for a long time now, to no avail. On Wednesday night, however, he finally got the nod from Manuel Pellegrini, and was included in the Hammers’ match day squad for their clash against Wolves. Of course, Holland has been on the bench for the Irons before, but didn’t get on the pitch last April against Manchester United. Now, however, there is a feeling that he is overdue his shot with the senior side. The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas, for instance, has openly said that he believes Holland is ready to compete in the Premier League, while Football.London‘s Sam Inkersole has also claimed that he has been “unlucky” not to be included more often. Whether or not Holland gets his shot tonight remains to be seen, but at the very least, you would hope that a Premier League debut and a boost to his self-esteem could be exactly what is needed to ignite his career in East London.
