West Ham United co owner David Gold produced a tweet from his personal Twitter account on Sunday where he claimed that he and his fellow Hammers power brokers have spent millions in the last few years on improving the training facilities at the club. It’s difficult to criticise people for spending millions on improvements, but it’s all relative, isn’t it? If other Premier League, and even Championship, teams are spending more on their facilities, then a club supposedly ‘moving forward’ spending a few million doesn’t really amount to much. Certainly when you look at the Irons’ training ground, it doesn’t feel like a top class facility on par with their top flight rivals. That’s easy for us to say when it’s not our money, but it’s the duty of a team’s owners to move their club forward. If they can’t do that then they should sell up and move on, as some fans have called for here. This is a bit of a tricky one to deal with, but it’s clear that the West Ham supporters aren’t happy with Mr. Gold for this tweet.
