Westley over the moon for Holland

Terry Westley was over the moon for West Ham United winger Nathan Holland after his inclusion in the squad against Wolves on Wednesday evening.

The former Hammers’ academy chief was pleased for the 21-year-old, who was brought on in the second half in the 2-0 defeat at Molineux.

Westley revealed that he spoke with Holland’s family ahead of the game, and they were massively excited over the possibility of his Premier League debut.

“I’m so pleased for him,” he told Claret and Hugh.

“I’ve just spoken to his parents and there is obviously massive excitement.”

The 21-year-old had been involved in 15 goals in his 11 Premier League 2 appearances this season before being given the nod by Manuel Pellegrini.

Many West Ham fans were left saying the same thing when the teamsheet was released and Holland was on the bench, finally. The Irons had only won once in the past two months in the top flight, at the same time that their under 23s were blowing away every single team they came up against – mainly down to the brilliance of Holland and company. Not only was he finding the net with ease from out wide, but he was also setting up chances for the likes of Anthony Scully to also improve his tally on a weekly basis. The 21-year-old struggled when he came onto the pitch on Wednesday, but that was more down to the way the game was going against Wolves, who were completely dominating the Hammers. Holland never really got the chance to run at his man in space, and that is where he is best in the top flight. Pellegrini shouldn’t be disheartened by his performance, and continue to give him a run in the first team.
