It’s fair to say that  hasn’t had the effect it was hoped he might have in east London. The  midfielder was brought into the club on a large contract under the expectation that his injury woes were behind hm, and with the hope that he might be able to finally realise the potential that he has threatened since he broke into the side a decade or so ago. Instead, there has been more of the same. In some respects, you have to feel sorry for him. Wilshere is supremely talented, there’s no doubt about that, and on his day he could have been one of the finest creative midfielders this country has ever produced, but have blighted him, and as a result he has seen most of his career pass him by from the treatment room. That being said, West Ham still have a right to be aggrieved with the exorbitant salary he is on, and when he has feature this season, he has been poor, averaging a Whoscored rating of just 5.99. As such, it’s not exactly a surprise to hear that most fans are fairly eager for him to leave, especially after hearing that Wilshere is keen on a move to the when his current deal expires, as per The Athletic. At this stage, it could be the best thing for everybody involved.
