West Ham chase Sa

Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that West Ham United could have such a goalkeeping nightmare?

The Hammers started the campaign with Lukasz Fabianski in between the sticks, and after earning the Hammer of the Year award, confidence will have been high in the Pole.

West Ham had Roberto and David Martin as back-ups, and they started the season fantastically, with a win over Manchester United in September sending them to third in the top flight.

Fabianski was forced off the field in the next clash against Bournemouth in the 2-2 draw, and West Ham haven’t won since and are currently just outside the relegation zone.

Roberto has been given the gloves since, and the Spaniard has more than proved that he is not capable of playing a big enough role to help the Hammers turn around their form.

Sportime have recently reported that Wolves have entered the race for Jose Sa, with West Ham also in the hunt for the Portuguese star.

The Greek outlet claim that there are also a number of other Premier League clubs, including Leicester and Arsenal interested in the Olympiakos stopper, who has a release clause close to £12.8million.

After Roberto’s recent form, West Ham should not hesitate to launch a move for the keeper in January, with the experienced stopper having excelled in the Champions League this season.

The Spaniard has made a number of mistakes already in the past couple of months, and after punching a corner into his own goal in the 3-0 defeat against Burnley, that has to be the final straw.

In the report from Sportime, it was revealed that Manuel Neuer hailed Sa for his performance in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, something that proves his reliability.

West Ham must launch a move for the Portuguese stopper, and put their failed move for Roberto in the past.
