Phil Thompson believes that West Ham will continue their dire run of form with another defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.

The Hammers are now winless in seven in the Premier League, after having slumped to a 3-2 loss against Tottenham last weekend.

And Thompson doesn’t foresee things getting any better either.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Goodness knows what has happened to West Ham.

“They seemed to be short of confidence all over the park, and you cannot say a lot a lot of good things about them at the moment, so this is another banker for Chelsea I feel.”

Thompson predicts a 3-0 defeat for the Hammers.

OPINION

This is going to be a real test for West Ham, and at the present moment, it’s hard to see them passing it. Manuel Pellegrini’s men are in a tailspin that shows no signs of abating any time soon. According to the Daily Mail, the Chilean has been given two games to save his job, and if that is true then he really needs to cause an upset on Saturday. The issue here is that Chelsea are on fire. They may have lost to Manchester City last time out, but there’s no shame in that, and aside from that defeat, they have looked largely irrepressible under Frank Lampard’s tenure. The Hammers go into this one low on confidence and even lower on momentum, so don’t be surprised to see Thompson’s fairy grim prediction come to fruition. That would leave Pellegrini with just one match to save his skin, against Wolves, and you wouldn’t bet on him winning that one either.
