There is no hiding from the fact that West Ham United striker Sebastien Haller is screaming out for a partner at the London Stadium.
Haller is looking more isolated as each week passes, and his success at Frankfurt last season with Luka Jovic proved that he needs someone alongside him after being involved in 24 goals.
The Hammers were reported by FCInter News to have reignited their interested in Inter Milan forward Gabriel Barbosa, and that they could challenge his loan side Flamengo for his permanent signature.
Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim confirmed recently, as quoted by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, that talks are well underway with the forward.
“We have been in touch with Inter,” he told a press conference.
“We haven’t agreed on anything yet, but the negotiations are well underway.
“Everything will depend on what the player would like to do and, thereafter, we will have to discuss the wages.”
Barbosa showed West Ham exactly what they would be getting if they were to make a move for the striker in the Copa Libertadores final. The Brazilian hit two goals towards the end of the clash with River Plate to bring home to trophy back to his home country.
The 23-year-old has been on fire this season, scoring 31 goals and assisting a further 10 in only 38 appearances helping his side to a league and cup double.
With Haller proving he can cope with the physical demand of the Premier League, winning 7.3 aerial battles per game according to WhoScored – Barbosa would compliment him perfectly with his predatory instincts in front of goal.
Flamengo clearly have the upper hand in negotiations seen as they have already started their talks with Inter Milan, and West Ham should do all they can to hijack that move in an attempt to turn Barbosa’s head and tempt him to a move to East London.
