West Ham United left back Arthur Masuaku has held a private meeting with manager Manuel Pellegrini, according to Football Insider.
The outlet claims that the 26-year-old has moved to thrash out his future after having been left out of the starting line-up for five of the Hammers’ past six games.
The DR Congo international wanted to know where he fit in Pellegrini’s plans moving forward, and the Chilean has reassured him that he remains a key player for him.
Masuaku has been told that he is in consideration for a recall to the first team if he proves himself in training.

It’s no surprise that Masuaku has moved to clear things up with Pellegrini, because he hasn’t even been on the bench for the past three games. That’s despite the Hammers struggling mightily in recent weeks. Masuaku started the season in spectacular form and was looking as good as he ever has in a claret and blue shirt. Then he got sent off against Aston Villa and hasn’t been able to have a proper run in the team since. He’s started the odd game here and there, but never several in a row. Aaron Cresswell, on the other hand, has. That’s despite Masuaku perhaps playing better over the entirety of the campaign. The statistics tell us how good the DR Congo man has been this time round. As per WhoScored.com, he is averaging 3.6 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and two clearances per game, while he is only being dribbled past 0.6 times per outing. Those are tremendous tallies, which speaks to how bizarre Pellegrini’s continued reluctance to play him is.
